Valentina's POV
As I stood there, I watched him get ready to punch the bag. I don't know how, but I made some type of noise, causing his bat-like ears to notice me, and he quickly turned around. Clearly amused that I was watching him. He smirked. He walked closer to me. I started to get anxious. Why was he walking closer?! Why was I getting anxious?!
"Hello, Miss Moretti. What are you doing down here? Watching me?"
"I-I don't know. I got up, and I kinda just ended up down here?" He watched me. Seeing if I was telling the truth probably.
"Um, I wanted to say thank you, for uh last night." I kind of looked at the ground. Getting embarrassed realizing he saw me part naked. "Prego." He smiled. Damn! His teeth could've been on like a dentist commercial. They looked perfect. How?! It was a cute smile too. He usually just smirked. I was glad I made him smile like that.
"You don't really have to thank me though. I would've helped anyone who was in your position." I felt a little pain in my chest. Why wouldn't he help anyone in that position? I'm nothing special. God, stop thinking you're special.
"Alright, of course, I figured, I just, I'm glad you saved me." I smiled at him. "Well, I'm glad to have saved you. Now, why don't you go back to bed? It's around two thirty a.m." For some reason, I didn't want to leave yet.
"Well then you might as well also, it is 'two thirty am'."I mimicked him with the last part. This time it was my turn to smirk. He looked at me. "Oh, my dear, I can't sleep. I have to finish getting my anger out. Never go to bed angry." "Isn't that just for married couples?" I asked laughing a bit.
"It honestly works for anything. You never know when you'll be gone. You never know when the people around you will be gone. You have to appreciate them. You can't go to bed angry because if you do, you wake up angry. Ruins your day, then everyone else's." Woah. This man seemed deep. "Oh," I said oh. SERIOUSLY THAT WAS IT. God, I'm truly something.
He laughed. He noticed I felt stupid. "Hey don't put much thought to it, people usually get thrown off when I say things like that. That's why I don't usually talk like that."
"I don't mind you talking like that, it was pretty cool," I said with a genuine smile this time. He looked up from his fists as I said that. Has no one ever told him that?
"Really? Well good for you." What? He was just being all nice. Now he's back to being cold. Why did I even try? "Yeah. Well, I'm gonna go back to bed." I turned on my heel, and as I was about to walk away, he grabbed my shoulder. "Make sure you get good sleep and be up by ten. You'll have a busy day."
What was that supposed to mean? He walked back to his punching bag, leaving me shocked. Whatever. I'm too tired to be thinking about that right now. I walked back to Stella's room. I laid down onto her bed. As soon my head hit the pillow I fell fast asleep.
Later that morning.
I heard a very loud alarm go off. Why was there an alarm so early in the morning?! I checked my phone to see what time it was.
Nine thirty-seven
Oh shit. I hurried up and got out of bed. My body was very sore from last night. Memories from last night flashed through my head. I started to cry again. I didn't mean to cry again. I finally stopped crying and then got changed into the sports bra, and shorts laying on the bed for me I'm guessing. To be honest I was scared to see what my life would be from now on. While I was talking to Stel last night, she said that I'm going to get my own room, but now I'd have to live here. To keep me protected. I, of course, freaked out. What about my grandparents. But she told me that Luca had men out there keeping them safe.
