Sarah woke up from the couch by the sound of the television turning on, Sarah knew who it was that'd woken up.
Or perhaps didn't even sleep at all, she didn't really know.
"Good morning." She yawned as she stretched, her feet resting on Rick's lap.
"Go-URP-od morning." He answered.
She sighed and stared at the ceiling.
"Are we-"
"Gonna talk about it? No." Rick said indifferently.
Sarah chuckled, knowing he'd be moody about it. "You know you can't help it, right?"
Rick didn't say anything.
"Its going to happen sooner or later, it's probably in process right now." Sarah shrugged.
"Look, Sarah," he said her name as a curse, "I don't care what other Ricks have been going through, I am the Rickiest of Ricks. I'll kill you myself if I have to."
She sat up, "I dare you."
He frowned, "you're a crazy fucking bitch, that's what you are."
Sarah laughed small, "Rick if you wanted to kill me you'd already done it."
He didn't say anything after that, his brow furrowed, knowing she was right.
She had told him what she knew last night, had explained the reason Ricks kept her.
He didn't like it, had refused it. She was much too young and it seemed stupid. Why would he fall in love with her anyway? He had said it himself, love was a chemical in the brain that tricked humans to breed and he felt squeamish about ever having another child.
He didn't want that, so what was the point?
He had never even spoken to the other Sarah, the one in the dumpster in the middle of Harlem where him and Morty had left her.
All in all, though, he had to admit she was beautiful.
Rick couldn't deny that, even as she sat with just a tank top on and her hair messily rubbed against the back of her hair.
Her under-eyes were black from makeup she had smeared while she was asleep.
She yawned again, searching in her hair for a ponytail that was sure to be lost in the mess.
She pulled it out and made a braid as she looked at the TV.
"That's fucked up." She whispered as she stared at a commercial.
Rick ignored her.
"Do you think if I ask your granddaughter for clothes she'll have something nice?" She asked.
"I don't," he burped, "know."
"I'll try."
"Have fun." He said dismissively.
She knocked on Summer's door who was getting ready for school.
"Hey, girl." Summer said as she walked in.
"Hi, do you have any clothes I could borrow? I could really use a shower."
Summer nodded, giving her some clothes for her to change into then directed her to the bathroom. Sarah felt bad for not telling her she knew exactly where it was.
She wondered if Rick was ever going to tell them what her purpose was as she got under the water.
Sarah wondered if she was going to get dropped off to another Rick.
That's what she got for being honest, though. She knew everything would be better if she hadn't but she couldn't help herself. She'd been dropped off the moment she told other Ricks who she was, after she told them they'd fall for her.
Ricks thought of it as a distraction from their craft so they all dropped her to the next.
Some of them had kept her but it never lasted long, they'd realize her influence or she'd get stolen by another.
She heard the distinct sound of a portal opening as she finished getting the shampoo out of her eyes.
Her back pressed against the wall of the shower and she felt a lump in her throat as she saw the shadow of a Rick.
But it wasn't Rick c-137, this Rick's hair was flatter.
She thought about letting it be, about just letting her take her but when she took a peak at him through the shower curtain, she realized she'd already knew that Rick.
That'd been the Rick she'd already been stolen from. This Rick had tried to kill her.
"Rick!" She screamed. "Rick!"
Her feet slid as she got out of the shower, leaving a trail of water as the other Rick ran after her, a gun in hand.
Rick c-137 was running toward the bathroom door when she got out of it.
"What the fuck?" He asked as she ran to him completely naked, her hands grabbed onto his lab coat from behind.
"He's trying to kill me." Sarah called.
"What's going on?"
"Summer! Get back in!" Sarah called at her.
The other Rick and Rick c-137 were pointing at each other, Morty came out too only to see her naked.
"A gun, Morty." Sarah hissed.
Morty scrambled back into his room.
"You know I don't give a shit about you, but just know you'll be better off if I kill her."
Morty came back as sneakily passed her an odd gun.
"What in the shit is this?" Sarah asked.
"It-its a ray gun."
"For fuck's sake." Sarah got on one knee and grabbing Rick's waist as grip before shooting the other Rick in the head.
Sarah sighed in relief, slumping down.
She threw the gun back to Morty who juggled with it before it landed safely in his hands.
"Oh, Jesus, what the fuck?" She said.
"J-just know you're becoming ay mo-URP-re trouble than what you're worth already." Rick said to her, walking away from her.
"Hey, Sarah?" Morty said.
"Yes?" Sarah asked in an annoyed tone.
"Y-you're naked."
She sighed, "I know."
Sarah went into the garage once she was fully dried and clothed again and caught Rick in it already.
"Hey, thank you about that." She said to him.
"Don't worry about it."
Sarah looked at him and sighed, "he's right, you know. You'll achieve greater things without me. I'm a, what'd that one call it?- a distraction."
"Pass me a screwdriver, won't you?" Rick burped.
She smiled, "flathead?"
"Yeah."
Sarah walked to the tool box and took one and gave it to him.
She sat on the desk next to his work.
"A little more further down." He shook his head.
Sarah moved a foot away from the experiment.
"The-URP-re."
She smiled and pressed her back against the wall.
"Can I ask what it is?" She asked.
"Not until it's done."
She looked out the garage door that stood open, the fall breeze keeping the closed space cool.
"What's it feel to be the smartest person in your dimension?" She whispered.
"It," he burped, "feels great, its good knowing I'm the only person who's not a moron."
"Well, you have your Morty, I guess. That's got to make a difference."
Rick didn't say anything.
"Do you feel it happening yet or are you still in denial?" She asked.
"Definitely still denying it." He said.
Sarah laughed.
"Well, at least now that I'm here you can let Morty rest a little more. He's just a kid, you know."
"School is moronic, he's learned much more with me than he'll ever learn in that shithole."
"No shit, you're telling this to the Walmart cashier college dropout." She chuckled, "but beyond that, he needs sleep. Unless you plan to drug him everyday with some chemical to make him not need sleep."
He burped, "I haven't done that yet but I'll keep you up on that."
"Do you want me to help you with anything?"
"N-URP-o."
She sighed and kept quiet again, watching him work.
After some time he clicked a button and the small metal figurine turned into a giant robot.
Sarah got off the desk to get a better look.
"I am GDS-435, what is my function?" It asked in a robotic voice.
"Just go water the plants." Rick said shrugging him away.
Sarah laughed, "are you serious?"
"W-what? Do you want to go do some gardening?"
She laughed again, "no, I just thought you were building something to take on an adventure."
Rick grumbled, "c-can you, d-URP-o any better? Huh, Sarah?"
"No, no I just expected better from you, Mr. Rick Sanchez c-137." She said with a grin.
"Oh, yeah? Like," he burped, "what?"
Sarah stopped laughing as she noticed he was too close now, she wasn't sure if he'd gotten closer because of the challenge or if he'd just wanted to be closer to her.
Her heart pounded and for a revealing second she realized that she felt it too. She felt what all the other Ricks felt for her, what she never felt for them back.
She leaned over and stretched up to meet his lips with her own.
Sarah took an immediate step back as she pulled away.
He stood there for second before he sat back down on his chair.
"You wanna get me a cross-slant?" He asked as he pulled out, from underneath the desk, a metal box.
"Sure." She whispered, going for the toolbox again.
Rick pulled it apart with a screwdriver and then noticed she was still standing and tapped the side of the desk.
She pulled herself up and sat down.
