I started to stir and woke up. I mentally resisted to go back to sleep and opened my eyes. Dark? Why is it dark? I sat up quickly and looked around me to notice that I was in a cave and the entrance of the cave was behind me, but it was dusk.
"Well it looks like the princess has finally woken up." I turned around to see that it was the same guy from when my military base was infiltrated with beast.
I stood up on shaky legs. "You!" I recognized, but after saying that, I collapsed back to the ground. My body felt weak, like when you have a stomach ache and you feel your body shaking.
He leaned against the moist cave wall with crossed arms, and looked down on me, like he was trying to figure me out.
"Careful. You're just experienced a shock." His words sounded like he cared, but his tone made it sound like it was a fact.
"Why did you save me?" I questioned with my hair covering my eyes.
Why did he save me, but no one else? Why am I the lucky one to survive, but my sister had to turn into that...that thing! And why didn't I turn? Nothing is making sense! I was so frusterated! Nothing is making sense and what happened back there has never happened before. In fact, I thought that it was impossible.
I looked up before shouting. "Why did you save me, but not my sister!?"
"Because I need you. And because of that, I needed you to be alive." He uncrossed his arm and walked at a slow pace to me before crouching to my level.
I avoided his cold gaze by looking down. So I'm alive because I'm of some use to him. So I'm basically like a dog toy, or a tool. I felt his hand grab my chin and force me to meet his eye. His expression held nothing and his eyes were dull. He's been through a lot, hasn't he? We stared at each other, trying to figure the other out.
"I don't like people who don't look at me in the eyes. It's disrespectful, Princess."
His grasp on my chin fell and he stood up, looking out the cave entrance. Deep in thought.
"They should be here..." I heard him mumble.
Then three figures appeared at the entrance. A Chinese girl with black hair pulled in a pony-tail and dark eyes stood by a guy with spiky, blond hair and green eyes that resembled grass. Next to him, was a guy with shaggy, white hair with crimson eyes.
They all entered and stared down at me with interest. Who are these people? These people have a powerful aura that just warns you that they are strong. They must be strong if a glance can warn you of their strength.
"This her?" The Chinese girl asked while keeping her eyes locked on me.
"Yeah. But I don't know her name." The guy that saved me said.
"Well let's introduce ourselves!" The blond guy said with much enthusiasm. " I'm Nate!" He stuck his hand out to me, but I just looked at it, not wanting to shake hands with him when I'm pretty sure they kidnapped me. Or save? I don't know.
"Ok..." He said while pulling his hand away from me, not sure what to view that as.
"Alan." The white haired guy spoke simply and bluntly.
"I'm Carrie." The Chinese girl introduced herself with a smile. Then I noticed she had fangs. A vampire!?
"You're a vampire!" I shouted in surprise. She's a vampire!? Then what does that make Nate and Alan? I looked at the other two for an answer. But Alan just scowled at me while Nate scratched the back of his neck bashfully.
"Yeah, um...I'm actually human! But Alan's a skin-walker." Nate answered.
"And Drake here," Nate slapped the guy that saved me on the shoulder," Is a Warlock."
"So a bunch of beast came to kidnap me? What am I! A princess who got taken away by a couple of dragons?!" I exclaimed, mostly to myself.
"But we aren't dragons! We are in the military." Nate explained with a smile glued to his face. That smile just can never be erased can it? And did he just say he was in the military? But monsters are what the military kill!
"Military?" I questioned him. "But you are monsters which we, in case you haven't notice, kill!"
"But that's where you're wrong. The military uses monsters like us in order to kill those beast because we are powerful and hard to kill." Carrie explained in a gentle voice.
"Then what am I here for?" I asked.
Carrie looked at Drake. As if asking if she can tell me. But he just glared at her. Well it looks like I'm getting no explanation.
"She needs to defend herself. We don't know what we're dealing with." He turned to me before speaking again. "Sleep." He demanded.
"Why?" I pouted. "I'm not sleepy at all!"
Drake then smirked. "I can make you sleepy if that's what you want."
"No! Don't even think about it!" I glared at him. This guys a pervert!
"Then sleep! Unless you want to do jumping jacks all night!" He demanded. Oh! That's what he meant by him making me tired...Now I feel like a pervert.
However, I still defied him as my eyes remained in a staring contest with him. This jerk can't tell me what to do!
"Do. As. I. Say!" He growled in a low, rumbling voice. However, I decided to remain quiet as I ignored his demand. I practically say his ears steaming as his glare became more intense. It was intimidating... But being the stubborn being I am, I stood firm.
"Why should I ever listen to an ass like you?" I retorted.
"Because whether you like it or not princess, I just saved your pitiful life, so as a favor, how about you sleep?" I couldn't argue with him, nor did I want to admit he scared me, so quietly, I slowly made my way to a bedding, laid down, and closed my eyes to finish the night.
