I woke up from the daydream and came back to reality. I was on the ground and my cloudy vision started clearing up.

"Zane! Goddammit Zane, wake up!" Drake yelled above me.

"I'm awake, but what was that? I don't understand." I muttered as I stood up.

"Don't understand what honey?" Carrie gently prodded.

"How am I alive when I'm supposed to be dead."

"What did you see?" Nate asked.

"Me. Burning, but still alive. How...?".

Silence impregnated the air as I stared at them. Why are they silent? Do they know something?

"It seems we have to finally tell you." Drake said as he took a quick glance at everyone else almost like he was silently ordering them to agree too.

"Well this ain't gonna be pretty." Alan sighed in annoyance.

"Tell me what? About me?"

"You can't die." Drake interrupted my questions.

"So I'm what, immortal?" I said in disbelief. No way am I immortal. I'm human.

"No. You'll die of old age eventually. What I mean by that is that you can't be killed because you quickly heal." Drake explained.

"How did I get my memory back?" I wondered outloud as I looked down at my feet to see a single piece of shattered glass. I felt drawn and heard cooing whispers come from it. It almost sounded like it was chanting my name, telling me to pick it up, so I did.I picked it up to see Bethany laughing inside the piece of glass.

"You!"

"Haha! You dumbass! How can you forget your own death?! And your face was delicious! Want another memory Zane? Tell me. Do you really want to remember?" She smirked at me as if she knew what my answer was going to be. Out of anger and frustration, I threw the glass and heard her laughing as she flew through the air and shattered on the wall into a million of pieces.

"Stop toying with me!" I heaved big breaths as I tried to calm myself down. As soon as I was calmed, I continued walking while everyone gawked at me. Apparently they didn't see Bethany in the glass like I did.

"Let's go." I walked ahead of everyone else. They all seemed stunned at my out-burst. Carrie looked at me sympathetically, Nate was thinking with his nose scrunched up in thought, Alan stared at me like he was trying to figure me out, and Drake just followed as if he understood that I wanted to be left alone for now.

We continued on walking down the narrow path until I spotted a blue glow. I started running in hope that it would lead to more memories. When I got there, I was huffing big breaths of air, since I didn't have the best agility at military school, but i was known for my quick-thinking and the ability to take action when needed. I stood up straight to see a memorizing pond. The water had a glow to it as blue splashes of color danced on the walls. It seemed magical and beautiful.

"What is this place?" I asked as curiousity gripped onto me.

"The pond of memories. You walk into the pond, dive underwater, and retrieve your memories. But you'll relive your worst nightmares." Drake explained as he walked up to stand beside me.

I nodded my head, understanding, as I kept my eyes pinned on the pond. I felt a hand on my shoulder, but I didn't react. I just stared at the water like I was succumbed to an ancient spell.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Carrie asked, concerned.

"I'm sure." I responded absent minded.

"Okay. I wish you the best. Good luck." Carrie walked back to her former position.

I took a big breath to prepare me for what was going to happen. From that one memory, I can already tell that this wasn't going to be pleasent. I knew that what I was going to learn would change me, scare me, and possible, what I fear most, turn me into something I'm not.

I started walking and stepped into the water slowly, making my clothes wet as they clinged to me. I turned around for a minute to look at my friends and smiled gently before falling backwards into the water. Blue water surrounded me and my hair floated up before just floating there. I closed my eyes and the memories rushed forward. I heard a pounding, almost like someone banging on the wall. It kept repeating at a slow, steady rythym. The more time that passed, the louder and harder the pounding became. My lungs felt like they were engulfed with fire. I couldn't hold my breath anymore, so I opened my eyes and and sat up to get out of the water and take a huge breath, but I was on soft, green grass when that happened.

I was dazed after holding my breath for so long and admired my surroundings. Birds sung beautifully and white clouds walked across the sky.
