I woke up in the middle of the night. And darkness swept my vision and a chilling cold sank into my skin as if like fangs. I noticed a warm blanket draped over me; giving me warmth that only protected my stomach and legs, but not feet nor head.
"Looks like you're awake." I heard a voice say without expression. It sounded like Drake.
"Drake...?" I slurred from sleepiness.
"Yeah, it's me. You should go back to sleep. I didn't save you to baby-sit you!" He said with an irritated tone.
"Well then you should have let me die with my sister!" I whisper. I'm not sure if he heard me, but I didn't really care. After mother died, I thought I lost happiness. I just wanted to cry all the time, but Caramel came and didn't allow me to be sad. I thought she was annoying at first, but she soon became all I have left. And yet cruel fate had to take that away from me. I guess they don't want me to know the meaning of happiness.
"I'm sorry. But if you die, then we will all perish with you." He said.
I got up from the floor and looked at him. "What do you mean?" I asked.
"Go to sleep." He then walked away and laid down in his own bed, completely ignoring me. No! I'm tired of being left in the dark. I want to know why did they save me and what happened to my sister. Why will the world perish if I die? Nothing makes sense! I feel like I'm drowning in questions and every time I make up some truth, another question comes and destroys it! I feel like my head is splitting on not knowing anything and I feel despair that I can't even know something that involves me. These questions are...suffocating.
I got up and walked to where he was. I then hugged him. He was surprised an jumped up. "W-what are you doing?! Get off!" He tried to push me away, but I refused to let go.
"Tell me! Tell me, please! I feel like I'm drowning! Why can't I know?! I want to know! I want to know what is your reason for saving me, but not my sister! So tell me!" I begged before quieting down,"Please..." My voice cracked. I was close to tears and I felt like they were about to fall over, like falling from a cliff.
"Fine! But get off!" He said angrily.
I nodded my head and let go before watching him sit up straight. He placed his hand behind his head and answered my questions carefully.
"We saved you because you are the only way to kill him. And you are the only way for monsters to walk in the light. If they capture you, then everyone will pretty much be dead."
"So...I'm pretty much a weapon for your own benefit. You don't care about my well being. You saved me so I can save you." I slowly retained the information before dread filled my heart. I'm basically a sacrifice. I stayed quiet for a bit before looking up to meet his eyes. "You're a terrible person!" I said quietly before looking up from my hair that shielded my face and glared at him.
"I never said I was good. In fact," He leaned closer to my face and coldly looked into my eye, "I'm evil." That look gave me chills. He really is evil. And when he leaned close to me, I could smell the faint smell of blood and rot. He's no good.
He leaned back and laid down on his bed. "Go to sleep."
I said nothing, and instead went to my bed and slept. He's evil. I'm in a situation where I'm going to end up somewhere bad. This is not good, but he has answers. I can feel it! He knows something about my sister. He has that dark aura of mystery and knowledge that is far beyond our reach.
I closed my eyes and could feel myself drift like the wind to another place. I felt myself in a dream place. Like I was swimming slowly and looking under water. It was like that. But breathing didn't come across my mind. It was like oxygen didn't exist and my heart was nothing but to let me know of what I should be feeling. Feelings were simply nothing in dreams.
I looked around and I saw a big castle. It was grey and old with rotting windows and doors. There was a huge, crumbling hole at the roof and tall trees shadowed everything. The grass was nothing but decayed, and there was no wind. I felt like time didn't exist here. I felt like the only thing here was the end of time. There was no beauty that represented the start. I saw human skeletons scatter the ground and some of them even hung limply in the trees. The sky was nothing but an endless night where no stars exist except a moon with a bright light surrounding the black circle. It was an eclipse of a never-ending night.
I walked slowly into the castle with crunching heard under my feet. I looked down and saw that I stepped on an old bone. The skinny bone started crumbling to grey dust. Then I felt the ground shake and looked behind me to see that the skeletons began moaning and groaning and slowly started to move as if it was painful to even lift a finger.
"Destroy...live..." They all started to say and then it soon became a chant. I took off running towards the castle and tried to open the big double-door, but it wouldn't open. I looked behind me to see if there was another way to go, but a strong wind picked up, and the skeletons crumbled to dust as the wind swept it away. Silence was all that was there.
Then a slow, creaking sound could be heard behind me. My heart was beating wildly. I took a deep breath to gather my courage before whipping around to see that the double-door was open. Inside, there was two stairs on each side of the room that connected and met at the same place. the floors were stained with rotten meat and dried blood that reminded me of red paint. There were small holes on the floor, but there was a huge one in the middle that just dropped off to an endless pit of night.
I walked slowly and went up the stairs, not knowing what could happen.
