"The Demon Bethany is very powerful. She is a demon that connects itself to a person. The only way to kill her is to..." Kingsweller lingered, not sure if he should continue. "That's all I can say at the moment, but if you want to kill Bethany you must find out about yourself first. I suggest you do this by going to the temple underground-"

"But thousands of beasts love there!" I interrupted him.

He sighed before continuing with uncertainties swimming in his eyes. "I'm aware of that. But if you want answered that bad, then it's your only option. The temple allows you to look back on your memories to find the answered you have, but shall not remember. But I must warn you that your fears and nightmares will be relived over and over again. That's the curse that comes with such great power." A silence thickened the air in the room like a fog. I wanted this silence to end, but it was like stones were shoved in my mouth; I couldn't speak and my mouth wouldn't allow me to.

"Let's do it." Drake broke the over-bearing silence.

"Yeah." I barely said over a whisper. "Let's do it." I answered much more clear and loud this time with determination seeping in my voice. "I need to fight Bethany. For what she made me do to my sister. I won't allow her to ruin my life because of what she did! What my life becomes is only up to me because I decide things for myself! Not her! I'll make her pay for interfering with my will."

"Zane." Carrie smiled at me gently.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"You're amazing. I hope you know that."

"No I'm not." I laughed a little. "It's just something I learned. If I just live under the blindfold I put on myself, then I will have never realized this. Everything I do, say, and think is what I chosen for myself. No one else but me decided that, so it's useless blaming others." I explained. I stood up and walked out the doorway as the others followed in tow.

Nick slung his arm around me. "You know, I think I'm falling for you Zane!"

I shook my head. "No use flattering me Nate."

He placed one hand over his heart as he said melodramatic, "Ow! That hurt! I thought you would take me seriously!" Nate joked with a smile.

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah right!" We walked to our temporary stay;the cave. We packed the little items we had, well I didn't because they practically kidnapped me, so I just sat and watched then run back and forth to get their stuff. They reminded me of mice scurrying back and forth. After that, we traveled to the dark part of the city. We stood in front of steps that led into darkness as crumbling buildings and old, abandoned cars in the street surrounded us.

"This is the 'Temple' that he told us about?" I asked.

"Yep." Alan bluntly answered. Same old Alan. He never surprises me.

"Where are we? Why is it abandoned?" I asked.

"Did you not go to school?" Drake insulted me.

"Not really..." I said ashamed.

Drake sighed. "About a decade ago, monsters just started swarming and killing the people, setting things in fire. It was chaotic. A lot of people abandoned this city out if fear after that. However, the monsters still remain here."

"I wonder why they came out..." I thought outloud.

"Let's just go and get this over with. You are one troublesome girl." Drake complained under his breath. The wind circled around is as we took slow, steady steps down and plunged into the darkness.
