The man smells my hair.
"What's your name, love?"
"None of your business, let me go."
He reeks of alcohol. "Aww.. Don't be like thatttt..."
I attempt to move but he has me pinned. Before he can lick my cheek, Burr and Rose run out of the café. Rose nails the man in the face and he falls unconscious. I remember Rose's strong will and even stronger temper. I feel Burr grab my arm.
"Are you alright, (Y/N)?"
"I.. I'm fine.."
The man gets up and runs off as Rose shouts after him
"Ya better run, you stupid excuse for a donkey!"
Burr hugs me. "Did he hurt you?"
"No. I'm fine. Why are you so worried about me?"
He doesn't respond and then gently releases me.
"Do you want an escort home?"
"That would be nice, yes.."
Burr gives a tiny smile and offers me his arm. I gladly accept it.
"Goodbye, Rose. I'll be back in a moment."
"Alright, Aaron."
We walk down the side of the street. Many people give us sideway glances but then they continue about their own business. After about 5 more minutes of silence, he speaks.
"If you don't mind me asking, where did Rosenburg originate from?"
"Oh.. Well.. It's slightly personal, so.."
Burr nods "I understand. So what do you like to do in your free time?"
"Mmm.. Mostly reading and writing. I practice piano as well."
"Interesting. My mother taught me piano."
"Wow. She sounds like a wonderful woman."
"She definitely was a wonderful woman..."
I take note of 'was' and change the subject.
"What do you do in your free time, Burr?"
"Well, I am enrolled in Princeton so that takes up most of my time but I've also joined the-.. Never mind, it's not important."
"Princeton? That's a top university. You're studying to be a scholar?"
He chuckles "Close. I'm studying to be a lawyer."
"Law is an interesting field. With that shiny Princeton degree you shouldn't find struggle in finding a career."
"Well, that is true. I haven't really thought of that. My mind has been... Elsewhere, if you will."
"Is that so?"
He nods. He looks like he's hiding something but I don't wish to push him. He looks like he's had a rough day.
We reach the gate that stands between the road and the Schuyler Manor.
"Well, thank you for the escort home, Burr. I appreciate it."
He smiles warmly and politely kisses my hand. "It's been my pleasure, Miss Schuyler. Enjoy your evening."
He walks off before I get the chance to say goodbye. He leaves me feeling warm inside, I like that feeling.
I walk inside of the manor and I immediately see Angelica and Eliza at the top of the stairs spying on me. Eliza quickly runs to her room, thinking I didn't see her while Angelica remains still, hands on her hips.
"Who was that, (Y/N)?"
"Nobody. Just my escort home."
"Define escort."
"He just walked me home! Not everything i do with the opposite sex is romantic!"
"Okay. Explain that pink color on your cheeks then."
"ANGELICA!"
"Alright, alright. Just telling you, though, I'm gonna be the best aunt ever."
I cross my arms and glare at Angelica until she gets a hint.
"Okay, fine. I'll stop but I still expect some nieces and nephews."
She walks into Eliza's room before I can say anything else in retort. I groan and head upstairs to my room.
It's a nice room. I have a gigantic closet and bed. My desk is almost completely covered in unfinished pamphlets and writings, I have a lot to say. The only limit is the space on my paper.
I lay on my bed and slowly close my eyes, drifting of to the void of sleep.
