" Oh please,
say to me,
you'll let me be your man.
And please,
say to me,
you'll let me hold your hand! "===============================
I organized all of my papers that were on my desk into one neat stack. As I did this, I smiled a little to myself knowing that one day soon, I'll be making music regularly and maybe even performing for people. One thought that I can't seem to erase from my mind is... What if I'm just not good enough? What if the band completely flops and no one really cares to notice?
I looked up from my desk and noticed George was laughing with another person. A boy with a straight bowl-cut hairstyle, wearing a neat school uniform. Once George sat down in his desk behind me, I quickly turned around to face him.
"I see ye've made a friend, eh?" I ask curiously.
George looked up at me from his paper, "Oh! Richard? Yeah, we met in second period. Since ye and John have been hangin' wi' eachova' more, I've been hangin' out wi' Rich." George half-smiled at me, "So, how was spending the night at John's on Saturday? Don't think I ever asked ye abou' it."
I blushed a little, definitely wasn't expecting that question. "It was fine. My Da' gave me some shit for it, though, once I got home."
George rolled his eyes, "That man is a fuckin' maniac, I swear it."
"By the way, ...John jus kicked Stu and Pete outta the band." I shot a look over at John as I spoke. "Saw it myself."
"No way! They were all such good mates, I thought." George sounded flabbergasted, yet amused.
"Eh... It was kinda one-sided, ye heard that." I explained. "So, that means you'll..." I trailed off hoping for a positive reply.
"Er... I don't know, Paulie, I've never really planned to make music a full-time career for meself. I mean, be real... What if we don't make it?" George reeled back.
"Ye just gotta have hope, ye know? I mean, I feel the same way." I tried to relate. "How abou' this? Meet me in Strawberry Fields instead of at my house after school today, alright?" I asked wistfully. "We can talk more abou' it there."
He stayed silent for a moment, trying to process all of this. "C'mon, Geo..." I begged. "Trust me."
"Fine..." He scoffed jokingly. "Don't make me regret this, mate."
I smiled and turned back to the front of the class. I looked over at John and did a thumbs up at him, hoping he'd get the idea. I believe he did since he smiled back at me with a confident expression.
Everything lately has been pretty perfect aside from my family drama. However, I know that with John by my side, I can push through it all. All I wish is that I could tell George about my relationship with John. I know I keep stating that fact, but it's just plaguing my mind. I want to tell my friend about all of the cute, lovey things we do. I want to tell him how much he helps me out. I want to tell him how much John means to me. Not only that, but I also wish I could be open with it all... to the whole world. I wish that I could tell everyone how I feel, but if I did that, I'd be bloody arrested on the spot and publically shamed and shunned. Which pains me endlessly.
It was eventually lunch time and I sat down across from George, John following close behind me. I think George is still pretty iffy on John, but he's trying to deal.
"Ello, lads!" I said as I set my tray down infront of me. John sat next to me.
"So, the band?" George asked both John and I. "Stu and Pete... are?"
