I fell to my knees, quickly clutching Isabella in my arms. I didn’t care about the blood, I just cared about her. I hugged her tightly to my chest. I could feel her heart beat, or is that mine? I don’t know, but I really hope it’s hers. I brought her legs up to my chest, so she was in a bridal position on my lap. I felt the blood drip through my fingers, I felt as if I was going to be sick. I felt her hand grip around mine. I shot a look down to our hands, now woven together.
“Je-Je-Jen, don’t l-let go...” She stuttered, her voice softer than a whisper. I felt the tears stream down my face, the sob in my throat prevented me from speaking. I began rocking her back and forth, like she was a baby in my arms.
“I promise I won’t, I promise.” I repeated while crying into her hair. She snuggled her head under my chin and closed her eyes. The blood on my shirt was growing with every second. She opened her eyes slightly and smiled, using all of her energy in the process. Her face was pale, actually everything was pale, and she is losing a lot of blood. Her eyes aren’t the same electric blue; they are dark, endless pits. I could see she was trying her best to stay strong, for me. She made a kind of gurgling sound before her eyes rolled to the back of her head. My stomach twisted as I realized she could be dead. I started wailing and holding her close. I shot a look of pure anger toward Louis.
“DON’T JUST STAND THERE! CALL SOMEONE!” I screamed. He nodded and ran over to the telephone on the wall. He dialled 9-1-1 and frantically explained the situation to the lady on the other end. I never stopped rocking Isabella in my arms; it felt as if I kept doing that, she would stop bleeding. I squeezed her drained and limp body tighter and tighter.
“Come back, please.” I whispered.
The next events happened really fast. I never stopped hugging Isabella, even when the paramedics barged into the house. I screamed while they tried to pry me off her, I didn’t want to leave her. I must have looked insane, but I couldn’t let her die because of me. I watched in horror as the carried her outside and onto the ambulance, and hooked her up to some machine. They took out a machine that looked like to irons, but more circular. Louis held me close as one of the men yelled “CLEAR!” He clamped the two circular irons onto her chest. The electricity making her frail, lifeless body leap. I cried into Louis’s shoulder, not daring to even look. They kept clamping the machine onto her chest, over and over again. Every time they did, nothing would happen.
“We have a pulse.” One of the men said. I looked up from Louis’s shoulder, my heart leaping every time I heard the heart monitor beep. They put an oxygen mask around her face and wheeled her into the ambulance. I began running after it, not getting very far before Louis grabbed my arm.
“We will drive there and visit her. Not now, she is in critical condition.” Louis whispered before softly kissing me. I started to cry into my hands, but he lifted my head so I was facing him. He started to wipe the tears from under my eyes and my cheeks, I was so lucky to have him.
We drove back to his apartment, the boys were still there. I sat on the couch, my eyes still looking red and puffy. I looked around and noticed Niall wasn’t there. Liam gave me a huge hug and stared into my eyes.
“He needed to be alone; he is waiting in the hospital for Isabella.” Liam whispered in my ear, as if reading my exact thoughts.
“What happened? Like while you were there?” Harry asked his eyes full of curiosity. I couldn’t get one word out before wanting to cry. It was weird that it all happened in about an hour. Life is weird; it takes so long for it to be good but can tumble into the darkness in a flash. Louis must have noticed my expression, because he started to explain the situation to the boys. They all listened intently, leaning in on all the scary parts. It was like he was telling them some campfire story, if only it was just fictional. I literally had one of my best friends die in my arms, but she lived. I looked at my shirt; it was soaked with her blood. I gagged, I must have forgotten in the heat of the moment. A scream escaped my lips as the events of the last hour flooded my mind. I ripped the shirt off of me and stared at it on the floor. Now all of the boys had their attention directed towards me.
“Love, you’re a mess.” Louis pointed out. I ran out of the room and into his bedroom. I already ripped off my shirt and screamed in front of the boys, I’m not going to cry also. I leaped onto Louis’s bed and quietly sobbed into the pillow. I realized I should be happy that Isabella is alive, I am, but everything was to over whelming. Jonah has hurt Louis, and now Isabella. I feel terrible that I’ve brought these perfectly innocent people into my dark life of lies. Not to mention how Violet was sexually harassed by him and his dumb friends. Hurting me was one thing, but hurting my friends, that was another. These people are just trying to make me happy, and by doing that they are getting hurt. This had to end; Jonah needs to be gone, forever.
I must have fallen asleep because I woke up to my phone vibrating like crazy. I picked it up and Niall’s voice yelled excitedly through the line.
“JEN! JEN! SHE’S AWAKE! COME NOW!” Niall hung up before I could say anything else. I shot up from Louis’s comfortable bed and raced out of his bedroom door. I ran back realizing I still didn’t have a shirt on. I ran into the shower and quickly washed off all of the dry blood on my body. I dried myself off and got on a pair of Louis’s sweat pants. I grabbed a striped shirt and ran into the living room. The boys were sitting there watching TV.
“Isabella’s awake! Come on we have to go!” I yelled at them while jumping up and down. They all exchanged happy expressions and Louis grabbed his keys.
Once we got to the hospital I ran directly to the room that the receptionist told us she was there. I checked the time on my phone, 3:32am. I ran to over to where Niall is sitting.
“Have you been in there yet?” I asked.
“No, I wanted you to be the first person she see’s.” Niall smiled. I gave him a big smile and hugged him tightly. He was the nicest boy ever.
I raced into the hospital room, almost getting blinded with all the white. I slowly approached the bed. Isabella was lying there she was turned so she wasn’t facing me.
“Isabella?” I asked, checking if she was awake. She sat up and turned towards me. Her face lit up and she outstretched her arms. Her face was still really pale, but the colour was slowly coming back. I ran towards her and gave her a huge hug. She held me tightly, like I did to her when she was on the floor.
“Thank you, for being there.” She laughed. Her voice was a little weak but she could speak.
“I was so scared. I’m so happy you alive, how are you doing?” I asked. She shrugged her shoulders and nodded her head towards the blood bag that was hanging from a metal pole. There was a tube coming down from it and it was implanted into her skin.
“Not really comfortable with the fact that some random person’s blood is replacing mine. Well, at least it’s saving my life.” She shrugged.
“It’s not exactly a random person.” Came an Irish accent from behind me. Isabella’s eyes lit up as Niall walked into the room and stood behind me. He slid his sleeve up his arm to reveal his wrist; it had a bandage around it.
“You?” Isabella could barely get a word out before Niall planted his lips against hers. When he released she bit her bottom lip, looking as if she was about to cry.
“I couldn’t bare the fact that I didn’t go with Jen and Louis to help you. I had to do something.” He explained. Isabella started to giggle and tears were flooding her eyes. They pored over onto her face and Niall swiftly wiped them away. She brought him in closer and kissed him again. She held him tightly, getting deeper and deeper into the kiss. I smiled and walked out of the room, they need they’re privacy.
“How is she?” Louis asked when I entered the hallway.
“She’ll live.” I smiled. He brought me close and kissed me gently.
“I will make sure this will never happen ever again, to your friends, or to you.” He whispered, his lips grazing mine.
“No, this is my physco guy, I have to finish this.” I whispered back. He smiled and kissed me one last time before we both walked out of the hospital.
