The night air nipped at my skin as I stared at the brown haired boy in front of me, my anger boiling at being used by him.

'But you used him too Shy, remember?'

My mind recalled to me, making my anger deflate and confusion cloud my brain instead as I rubbed the goose bumps from my arms.

"Jake what are you doing here ? " I paused looking at the time on my phone,"And at ten o'clock at night." My brows arched for an explanation.

Red tainted his cheeks and he looked down putting his hands in his pockets, "I guess I didn't really think of the time." He said embarrassed lifting his head to me, his brown eyes connected with my own, and I cursed my self for wishing they were hazel like the boy's next door.

He sighed and stepped up to me rubbing a hand over his face.

"I hate myself Shyla, I didn't mean to hurt you like that, and I couldn't stand you being mad at me another day. Despite everything I had alot of fun with you on our date."

I  gave him a closed mouth smile and nodded for him to continue.

A hint of a smile tugging at his lips he said, " Though considering you like to fight old people, I'll probably never let you meet my grandparents" he joked causing us both to laugh and me to blush this time whispering a shut up. " I still would like to be your friend though." He said getting serious, "Would you please be my friend again Shyla?" His big brown eyes widened giving me a puppy dog look as he waited for my reply.

I pressed my lips together folding my arms. He looked so nervous, and his appology was just too cute not to forgive. A smile blossomed on my face and I nodded my head, "I'd love to be your friend again Jake."

A boyish smile graced his face and he reached over pulling me into a hug, shocked at first I awkwardly stood there, but the longer he held on the more relaxed I became. Slowly I reached my arms up hugging him back.

"Im so glad you forgave me." He whispered.

Silently I nodded my head on his shoulder, getting emotional all over again as I gazed at the house next door. Curse stupid Daniel for not being the one holding me like this, for not being the one to knock on my door and appologize for being such an asswhole.

"Yeah, you were."  I said seriously, "but I've met bigger." My eyes lingered on Daniel's window.

We pulled away from each other and I cleared my throat turning away descreetly to check my eyes of any tears.

"Look Jake, im glad you came over." I began.

"Why do I have the feeling a 'buts' coming on." He joked

I smiled appologetically, "Im sorry, its just nows not really a good time."

He put his hands up in surrender, "Don't worry I get it, im just glad you let me stay this long, and that we worked things out."

"Me too." I said honestly. I missed Jake, despite everything.

"Well Miss Shyla," he said tipping his invisible hat and causing me to laugh,"I better get going."

"Goodnight J."

The biggest smile took over his face at the mention of my nickname for him.

"Goodnight Shy."

Shy..

My heart sank as I placed a hand to my chest making sure it was still there. Jake oblivious to the significance of that name, turned and walked to his car, or atleast I think , my heads in a blur.
