One year later.

Daniel's POV

Straightneing out my suit jacket I looked up meeting the eyes of my best man, Jake. "Dude why are you looking at me like that?" I asked pausing my nervous fidgeting. Jake shook his head, a big ass smile lighting his face, "I just can't believe your actually doing this man, your getting married." A smile of my own tugged at my lips.

Man, who'd ever thought I'd be getting married, and to my best-friend, Shyla, of all people. Damn, lifes crazy. "I know right, but theres nothing in this world that could stop me from marrying Shy today Bro. I love that girl." He nodded with understanding as I turned to him. With time passing over the years, Jake's little crush on Shyla faded as soon as he hit college, and all the girls in college, if you know what I mean. It wasn't awkard for him to be here, or for me to express how I feel about her, we were boys and theres a firm understanding that Shyla Is my woman, she always was and always will be. Jake actually has a girl of his own, Camilla. Ya'll remember Camilla from Highschool right? Man did her and Shyla have it out for each other for awhile, but eventually they became close friends. Well, Camilla and Jake had history before Shyla even came along and they were stil friends; years later they bumped into each other again after keeping in touch and they've been dating for about two years now. Im happy for my bro really. "This will be you soon bruh." I smirked and Jake made a face, "Mannn Cam is cool and all, but who knows, I don't think I'm ready for all that." He said laughing lightly. I tisked, "If I could do it, you could do it. I'm tellin you, there aint nothin like having a woman to be there for you the way nobody else can."

"Look at you trying to school me." We laughed , "Nah, I'm just saying, don't be like me, taking the one person for granted that's always held you down." I gave him a look and he nodded again, "Yeah Bro I hear you, but you finally saw the light." He grabbed my shoulders turning me to face the mirror as I laughed, "Damn bro." Jake said seriously and I looked at his reflection, "what?". He just shook his head. "After today you ain't gettin no pussy." "Man get off of me." I shoved him laughing and he bent over in hysterics, "You think you funny, we'll see who'll be gettin what when Camilla leaves your tired ass." He waved me off, "Yeah whatever." I chuckled straightning my tie. "Dan." Jake called to me causing me to stop messing with my tie for the millionth time, to look at him. "You good bro." He reassured me. I nodded, "Thanks man, I'm scared as shit." I admitted sitting down. Jake laughed, but sobered up quickly, "Yeah I know, but like you said, When you find that one woman willing to have your back through it all, you take advantage of that." I dapped him up, "Thats right." I sighed standing up just as someone knocked on the door. "come in." I called watching as my mom walked through the door.

She was dressed in a long peach dress, her latin skin doing wonders for the color. A set of turquoise diamonds laced her neck. She looked amazing. "Ma, you look beautiful." I kised her forhead as she squeezed me tight in a warm embrace. Her soft hands were soon placed on my face as she looked into my eyes, a single tear slipped. "I am so proud of you Mijo, and I know that if your Father was here, he'd be proud too." She squeezed me tight again and It took all I had not to break down in the arms of my mother, we never really talked about dad, so for her to say that to me.. Damn man, that touched me deep. "Thanks Ma." I said choked up. I watched Jake out of the corner of my eye, as he grabbed a box of kleenex from the dressing room counter handing it to my mom, "Here you go Mrs. Ruez." She thanked him patting his cheek and kissed me goodbye, "Alright now, I'll see you out there mi cortazone. I have to walk little Lily down the isle." Her face brightened up at the mentioning of her grandaughter. My daughter, Liliana Marie Ruez, was two years old now and loved by many. I thought for sure Shyla would change her mind once the baby was here, but I doubted my woman once again; because as soon as she layed eyes on Lily she fell in love with another me in a different way. I was granted full custody of Lily. Her Mother didn't want her, just the money; and after a nasty custody battle The judge saw me as the better fit parent financialy for Lily. Never in a million years did I think I would be able to raise a child on my own, or at all really, but when I held my babygirl in my arms, all I wanted to do was protect her. Lily didn't need some groupie mom in and out of her life, Shyla has been the perfect mother for over a year now, and she's all she needs. Both me and Lily are blessed to have her.
