So here I was standing at gate 9 with my mom waiting for the girls to get off the plane.

We've been here for almost an hour and there's no sign of them yet. Speaking of sign my arms were starting to get tired again from holding the one I made with their names on it.

"mom its your turn" I said passing it off to her. For the last 1 hour we've been taking turns holding it.

Mom would sometimes complain and make up excuses talking about she cant hold it as long as me because she has 'bakers hands' whatever the hell that is, and not even considering the fact that she can't bake.

"where are they? their plane should have landed 30 minutes ago" mom said checking her watch for the 5th time.

"mom I don't know why you keep looking at that thing, its not like their going to climb out of it and go "here we are" " I said using a little extra dramatizing than necessary .

"oh hush up. Im just wondering where they are as all. Why don't you do something useful like call or text one of them."  She said giving me a suggestive look.

"il try but I don't think it will do any good if their flights delayed" I stated typing in Krissa's number

"'may have been' delayed, we don't know for sure" she corrected.

"well whatever all I know is their not here, my arms are aching and this is not how I planned my birthday to be, me standing in an airport holding a sign for my three best friends who were suppose to have arrived over an hour ago" I huffed and sat down on the nearest bench. "Im giving them another 30 minutes and then were out of here. When they arrive they can call."

"honey I know your tired of waiting, and your hopes are slowly faltering because their not here yet but we cant just leave. I mean what if they arrive and were not here. Sweetheart their minors and I wouldn't be a good parent if I just left them alone in some strange  city in an airport full of people they don't know." Mom tried getting me to see the more reasonable side.

"why not they left us here" I replied back still being stubborn.

"Shyla Rae—" mom started but I cut her off not wanting to hear her talk anymore, my ears were one of the only things I had left on my body that weren't starting to ache from hours of standing. Although the people in the airport were pretty loud, I didn't need my mom adding to the rush of voices around me.

"fine!" I breathed in and out. "fine" I said a little lower standing up on the bench to try and look over the sea of people hoping that just maybe I can catch at least a glimpse of one of my friends. I wasn't mad at them, I was just over excited about them coming and by them not being here already my nerves were starting to get bad.

I held the sign up and yelled for them one good time, catching weird stares from some of the people around me, but I could care less they don't know me and I definitely don't care or no them either.

All of a sudden I hear the faint sound of my name being called and people falling like domino where the sound was coming from.

"SHAYLA" "SHYLA" "SHAY-SHAY" !!!

"O my gosh I see them their here mom! Their here!" I throw the sign down and run into the direction of where I saw them last.

"shyla wait for—" I hear my moms call for me fading in the background. As I run with the biggest smile on my face that I've ever had  since I been here. Bumping people on the way and getting a few rude remarks as I push through the crowd of people. But I don't let it get to me, any of it. Cause everything is okay now, just for these two days everythings going to feel like they used to. Im going to have my three favorite people with me and I'll be alright, It'll be like nothing changed, just for these moments.
