" I must've crossed a line, I must've lost my mind "
MUSIC vibrated through the ground, people milled about with drinks, masks hid faces from view. Lena clutched Rebekah's arm a little tighter as they followed Klaus into the charity ball that Marcel was hosting in the Abattoir.
Lena gaped at the dancers and the gymnasts around the room. This really was like a Gatsby party and she suddenly felt very sorry for Hayley, who had to stay at home to be safe, because she was missing out on what seemed to be the party of the century.
"You alright there, love?" Klaus whispered to Lena, with that smirk on his lips. She nodded, running her fingers over the red and black velvet gown she wore. It had long sleeves and pooled around the bottom of her heeled boots. There was a slit up one side, reaching the top of her thigh, and it was quite a low neck. But as soon as she had laid eyes on it, she had fallen in love with the black lace, and the richness of the dark red colour and the way it hugged her body just right.
She was definitely raised by Rebekah.
"Well, this certainly is a fitting backdrop for tonight's events, I must say," Klaus said, louder this time, to his sister. It was then that they caught sight of the 'pretty little blonde' that walked into the Abattoir. She wore a white, twenties-style dress, beaded to absolute perfection, with angel wings protruding from her back in proper masquerade style.
"What's she doing here?" Klaus asked his sister, who was grinning at Lena. But Lena was too focused on the party to take notice of the look that Rebekah was giving her. (Klaus' arm was around her waist, to stop her from wandering off and it wasn't like Rebekah hadn't noticed the stolen glances between the two.)
"What better way to distract Marcel than to put his very human, new girl in a room chock full of vampires?"
With that, Rebekah took a hold of Lena's hand, leading her through the party to catch up to Camille - the 'pretty little blonde' as Lena kept calling her in her head - who grinned at the sight of the vampire.
"Hello, darling, you look precious. I'd like to introduce you to my dear friend, Lena. Lena, this is Camille."
"It's an absolute pleasure to meet you, Camille," Lena said, politely shaking Camille's cold hand.
"And you Lena. Call me Cami though, that dress is so pretty."
"My dress? Yours is fabulous!"
Camille giggled along with the two other women before looking around the party with that awed expression on her face again. "This party is ridiculous, but I think I could get to enjoy this place. Is he the infamous on-again/off-again?" Cami asked Rebekah, noticing Klaus walking towards them. Lena snorted, not even bothering to cover it up as Klaus stopped by her side, his hand grazing hers.
