A/N: Sorry it took so long to get a chapter out, I've been super busy and life has been very hectic. I'm sooo grateful for all the support, thank you.

MELANIE SLAMMED THE car door and ran up to the stubborn boys. She grabbed Will's arm and tried yanking it back towards the car but him and Mike refused. This was the main reason why she hated looking after Will and his friends, they never listened to her and that made her frustrated.

"What is wrong with you? Mom put me in charge and she said that you should stay in the car so get back—"

Before she could finish her sentence, there was a loud revving of engines and three vehicles came up the road that they were parked on. Hawkins labs trucks. Melanie stood in front of the two boys, guarding them.

"Stay behind me." She demanded. The van doors opened and multiple people covered in lab gear fled out of the vans and headed towards the hole in the ground.

Melanie looked around confusedly. "Hey! What are you guys doing?"

They all ignored her as they each slid down the hole one by one,Melanie held onto Will and Mikes hand as they all watched.

Will suddenly let go and clenched his stomach as he dropped to the ground, grunting and shaking. Melanie got on her knees beside him and held her brother. "Will! Will! What's wrong?!"

"Will! Will can you hear me?" He still continued shaking furiously,Melanie rolled him over onto his back and that's when he let out a shrill scream causing her and Mike to move backwards away from him.

The lab scientists came running forward, forming a crowd around him whilst Melanie was moving further and further away unsure of what to do.

She stammered as she approached him. "Someone please do something! He's not okay!"

The people dressed in lab coats picked Will up and quickly made their way back to their vans. Whilst some stayed and jumped down the tunnel where Bob and Joyce were.

"It's gonna be okay Will." Melanie followed behind as they loaded him into the van,his screaming getting louder and louder.

*

Melanie sat on the steps outside the hospital with a unlit cigarette in her hand and a pack of gum. She was feeling sick to her stomach,as though she wanted to throw up probably because of what she had just witnessed.

Will had just been rushed to hospital and she was unsure of what was happening to him. Everyone was. The doctors weren't any help either so all they could do was wait.

She tapped her feet impatiently as she lit her cigarette inhaling the smoke before exhaling again.

"Are you okay?"

Melanie's head snapped towards the entrance of the hospital where Joyce was walking towards her,she nodded and tried hiding the cigarette underneath her jacket.

"You got any more of those lying around by any chance?" Joyce asked her daughter as she took a seat next to her.

"Yeah." She pulled out another cigarette and her lighter from her jacket pocket, handing it over to her mother. "I'm sorry... I know you told me to stop."

She frowned at her daughter slightly. "Hand them over Melanie."

Joyce stuck her hand out in front of Melanie waiting,Melanie hesitantly placed the pack of cigarettes in her hand.

"I'm sorry."

Joyce balanced the cigarette between her lips and lit it with the lighter before handing it back to Melanie. "I know."
