Dot was exhausted. She'd barely slept that night, her mind plagued with images of bodies being rolled through that door. We're so fucked. She couldn't see a way out of this. They'd escaped the clutches of WICKED only to find themselves being held prisoner by a new group of monsters. What do they want from us? That question had being playing on repeat all night and yet she couldn't figure out the answer.

Dot followed the corridors of the compound, making her way towards the dining hall. She needed to find Aris and discuss their plan of escape — if it could be done, they would do it. Dot would not sit idly by waiting for the end. She kept her head down as she walked, her arms wrapped around her torso and her eyes darting from side to side. The guards that lined the hallways watched her pass with scrutinising gazes. They know we know. They couldn't possibly know. Yet, Dot's skin crawled each time she felt their eyes on her. We're so fucked.

A hand fell on her shoulder, the sudden contact making Dot jump with fright. Her whole body tensed, but when she turned only to see Thomas holding his hands up in surrender, she relaxed — not by much.

"Don't do that!" Dot hissed.

"Someone's a little on edge," Thomas replied, a small spark of amusement in his eyes. Dot, however, was not amused.

"Can you blame me?" Dot shot back, her eyes flitting around nervously as they were watched walking together. "We just found out they've been lying to us all this time." Dot paused, bitterness filling her. "Not that I should be surprised. Safe haven? What a joke. I should know better than to fall for crap like that."

"Hey," Thomas grabbed her elbow softly, stopping them just before they could enter the dining hall. "Don't beat yourself up. They had everyone fooled."

"Not you," Dot argued. "You knew something was off. I should've too."

She shrugged his hand off, even if the small gesture had given her some comfort, and strode into the dining hall. Thomas quickly caught up, leaning his head down towards hers to allow them to continue without being overheard by curious onlookers.

"We need to find out what's through that door. Tonight let's —"

"Are you insane?" Dot hissed, her head whipping round to face him so fast they almost bumped heads. "Screw that! What we need is to get the fuck out of here!"

"Don't you want to know who these people are? Or what they want from us?" Thomas argued. Dot merely scoffed. She knew enough and now she just wanted out. He, however, refused to give up: "Come on, you're telling me you're not the slightest bit curious of what's behind that door?"
