In. Out. In. Out. In. Out.

Dot focused on keeping her ragged breaths even as she ran, pumping her legs faster to escape the horror chasing their expedition group down. Dot couldn't believe it. The little girl had no eyes. By a rare stroke of luck, a thin wire fence had separated Thomas from the clawing fingers of the abomination but her piercing screams had chased the trio away in seconds. None of them wanted to stay in her presence for longer than necessary. She had no eyes. Where were her eyes?

Mere moments after the screams began, more of them had begun to appear. A man, if he could still be called that, had stumbled from behind with an inhuman cry. His shaky legs had carried him towards them and Dot had frozen in pure terror. She'd never seen anything like these creatures. Not even the Wasps compared. Minho had remained functional, luckily, and not hesitated. A sturdy rod of metal had found its way into his grip and he'd immediately struck the man. The harsh sound of metal against skull had been what startled Dot from her shocked state. Her feet had run from instinct, her years in the Maze finally proving useful.

In. Out. In. Out.

Thomas spotted a door up ahead, signalling with a shout, and the three of them tore towards it at speeds they didn't know they were capable of. Nothing like the fear of death to get you moving. Dot slid through the doorway just before Thomas slammed it shut and immediately flung her body against it. Her strength was matched as bodies piled behind the sturdy barrier, trying to force it open to reach their prey. We're in Hell. We're actually in Hell.

A particularly harsh shove from the things beyond the door almost had Dot sprawling on the floor. She didn't have the strength to keep the walking dead at bay, not even with Thomas straining to keep the door closed beside her.

"Anytime today, Minho! No rush!" Dot snapped. She was sure she'd have received some kind of snarky retort if he wasn't so distracted by his panicked search for a barricade.

Minho attempted to haul a heavy-looking metal unit against the door but the unit kept slipping from his grip, refusing to budge. Thomas glanced between him and Dot, weighing up the decision, before abandoning the brunette girl to help Minho with the unit. The sudden extra weight caused Dot to slip, a strangled cry leaving her lips. Her shoulder hit the unforgiving earth, hard, and hands grasped at her hair as the door cracked open. Struggling to a sitting position in order to keep her back pressed against the door, Dot fought to keep the creatures at bay and her hair in her possession. I'm going to kill Thomas.
