CHAPTER TWENTY ONE
It was a long walk, from the Amphis house to Jae's bar. It was cold out, and my nose was running as well as my eyes watering due to the wind blowing on me. My stomach was beginning to get sore the longer I walked but I kept telling myself if I turned back I was just letting them win. So after a hour I was walking into Jae's busy bar, she smiled when seeing me walk in. I smiled back taking my normal seat at the bar, she was pouring a few beers before she came over to me sliding a glass of water in front of me.
"You know how you offered me that job?" I asked and her face dropped but she nodded. "I'm going to need that. Also can I stay in the loft? You don't even need to pay me, I just need a place for a little bit."
"How did the mission go? It's been all over the news. Jimin wasn't lying when he said he had deep roots in the law enforcement. They have already closed the case, pinned it on some American mob." She was ignoring my question. I just glared at her and she sighed taking the hint I wasn't going to let her ignore me. "What happened?"

"Those little fucking pieces of shit. God if I ever see them I'm going to wrap my hands around their dirty necks a-and. Ugh! I can't believe them." I had explained everything to her, I wasn't trying to make her hate Jimin. But seeing as what happened, I don't think those two are going to be seeing eachother again. After telling her she cried at first, getting mad at herself for not checking in on me. But our relationship has been so back and forth I don't blame her, and Jimin apparently told her that everything went fine and no one in Amphis was seriously injured. So she didn't have a reason to come check on me. When I showed her the healing scars she cried again, and a few older men in the bar gasped asking me to tell them what happened. I just said I got into a gun fight and lost, which is true to a point.
"Can I stay here?"
"Yes! Of course!" She ran a hand through her hair, a habit she'd picked up from Jimin. She was still muttering curse words and insults under her breath before looking back at me. "You almost died! It's like they don't realize that!"

The loft above the bar is cold and dusty. When we were younger and Jae's father owned the bar we would sit up here and steal shots of vodka. But after my father found out I never did it again, I still have the whip marks on my back.
I walked over to the old bed against the wall and moved the boxes off it. Jae had given me clean sheets to put on it and pillow cases, so once the bed was made it looked slightly more appealing. I only had a small backpack of clothes, but I would change that. The only good thing about my father passing is I got all the his money. So now I was a pulling nearly a billion dollars, most of it is going into a savings account I don't want to be the one that spend all their money on useless things. The house is still under investigation, luckily Chan was able to wipe everything off my father's computer before the mission went down. The police said I was given everything in my father's will so after the house is wiped down of all illegal weapons and drugs I'll get it. But I'm not sure I could ever live in that house again, not after the years of torture I spent in it, but on the other side it's a free fucking mansion.
A few days ago the police came to the Amphis house needing to talk to me. It was kind of disgusting how it all went down. They told me my father was murdered and I had to pretend to be hurt, like I wasn't the one to pull the trigger and end his life. They then proceeded to ask me questions like where was I, and what my relationship was like with my father, and if I was involved in the Mafia. All my answers were rehearsed and they didn't write anything down so I don't think they really cared what I said. They were all just happy someone had taken down the Kang Mafia.
