A/N: Thank you guys so much for all the positive feedback I've been getting! It really means a lot to me and really makes me want to continue. I really appreciate it! Hopefully you enjoy the new chapter!
"My names Midoriya Izuku!" I said confidently. Deep down inside I was actually dying, but I didn't want people to see that.
"Style of dance?" Present Mic said (screamed).
"Hip hop."
"Begin!"
It starts now. If I want to wow Kacchan today's the day. The music starts. I immediately recognize the song, considering I was the one who chose it. "Yoncé" by Beyoncé. It was an interesting choice, but I really enjoy the song. We each only had two minutes to perform, but this song was two minutes and three seconds so I was able to let it slide. Others had to choose different parts of their songs to dance to if they were too long.
"C'mon Izuku. One minute down, one minute to go. You got this." I thought. I feel pretty confident about the rest of the dance. I've spent hours perfecting it and performing it. I wanted to show everyone what I am capable of. I then notice I am off one beat. Normally, this wouldn't be too big of a deal for most people.
"Just hop back in! It'll be okay!" They all say. Yeah your dance instructors are lying. When you mess up that can really get to you. It can stay in your head and make you think your whole dance is absolute garbage, and that's exactly what it did.
Bakugou POV
"Jesus fuck what is he doing?" He was doing well in the beginning of the dance, surprisingly, but now he just looks lost and scared. If he's trying to one up me he has absolutely no fucking chance. Facial expression is important, and right now he looks like a chicken that's been chosen to be slaughtered.
Midoriya POV
"Improvise. Improvise. Improvise." Those are the only words playing in my head. I probably look absolutely terrified. I'm not even sure how to begin coming back from this. All the eyes staring at me. Judging me. Looking at my mistakes. Probably thinking that I am a horrible dancer. The pressure is enough to kill a man. I scan the crowd as I'm dancing. Kacchan's eyes are piercing. He can definitely see that I'm freaking out. I'm going to get so much shit for this. Finally, after what feels like an eternity, the song ends. My dance probably looked like a whole shit show. Or maybe a garbage fire? Honestly who knows. Oh wait I know! ALL THIRTY KIDS THAT WERE WATCHING ME JUST NOW KNOWS. OH HEY JUDGES IN THE BACK HOW ARE YOU DOING? IM SURE THAT WAS A TREAT!
I just need to calm down. I'm just panicking and rambling. I think Uraraka notices that I'm literally dying, so she starts smiling.
"You did great Midoriya!" She said to me.
"I don't really think so, but thanks" I'm trying to be nice, but really I want to astral project myself into the sun.
"Listen. You were a lot better than you credit yourself for. Don't focus on the negative. Focus on the positive aspects too! The biggest critic is yourself." Yaoyorozu interjects.
I'm sure I look like an idiot right now. That's the first time anyone really tried to calm me. Sometimes I guess it's just nice to have people that you don't even know try to calm you down.
"Next!" God I wish Present Mic would stop yelling. Does he ever lose his voice? He must drink a lot of tea.
This is it. Kacchan's turn. It's going to be very interesting to watch. It's hard to imagine that someone could possibly try and outdo Todoroki, but if there was that one person it would be Bakugou.
"Bakugou Katsuki. Hip Hop." He didn't even wait for Present Mic to ask. He just did it. He must really want to get it over with. He starts to dance. At first I couldn't recognize the song, but later on I could. "Rockstar" by Post Malone. Bold choice, but perfectly describes him. Kacchan is always up for a challenge, and when he takes it head on, he always wins. Even when we used to dance at the same little dance studio he's always won. It's just who he is. Competitions don't bother him because he's confident in winning. I've always been jealous of his confidence. It's really something I've never had. He's always been one of the most talented people I know. For once, I don't want to watch him. I don't even want to stare at him. I'm ashamed of myself. I convinced myself that I could do it, and I couldn't. I can't bring myself to look at him. I won't look at him.
The music stops. I didn't stare at him the whole dance. I didn't look at him. I didn't watch him. I just sat there. In case anyone was curious, the ground is very clean. I can see my reflection in it. I hear people around me mumbling about how good he was. I look over to my left, and Kaminari looks like he was cast under a spell. Kacchan has the tendency to do that. The whole crowd can be in the palm of his hand, yet he doesn't even realize it.
More and more time goes on. Before we know it, we are on number 30. The very last number.
"Alright!!! Number 30 please step up." I think my ears are getting used to the screaming.
We all turn our heads to face the last person. He was a relatively tall male with very spiky red hair. As I keep looking at him I noticed that he never stops smiling. How do you smile for that long???
"I'm Kirishima Eijirou!" He says still smiling.
"Dance?"
"Hip Hop!" More hip hop? All there's really been today is hip hop and dance. There was just a handful of kids who did tap and jazz. Maybe everyone just likes those two types of dance? I mean, either way we all have to learn it. The way they teach in UA is you have classes with education in the beginning of the day, and then afterwards is your dance classes. It's a lot of work but everyone does it. The dance classes consist of jazz, tap, hip hop, ballet, and contemporary. The education classes in the morning are just standard education. Everyone must live on campus. We aren't sure why, but it's a new policy.
I focus back on Kirishima, who's now dancing. He's dancing to "Happy" by Pharrell Williams. Very suiting for his personality. Even at first glance you can tell he's just a big bundle of sunshine.
As he's dancing, he never misses a beat. It looks like he has his choreography memorized backwards and forwards. It's kind of amazing. All eyes are on him. Not only is he a great dancer, but he looks like he has a great personality. If I get in he's definitely someone I'd like to be friends with. I can see him dancing well with Bakugou. They both look like well rounded dancers, and would surely compliment each other. Two minutes felt like only two seconds. I felt like I could watch him for ages. He definitely would be a great competitor. We were finally released. I wanted to get home as soon as possible to tell my mother. There were so many kids in so many different rooms, that I'm not even sure if I'll get into the dancing portion. In UA there is different sections you can get put into. Not only do they look at your dance scores, but they also look at your grades as well. You can get put into, the dance course, the general studies course, the choreography course. The kids in the choreography course sometimes get to choreograph the kids in the dance course. Most UA students have a lot of fun with it. All I know is that I want to get my results back. If I don't get in, who knows what I'll do.
