"If you have fallen in a forest and there is nobody around do you ever hear a crash or even make a sound."

Pain rivets through my mind as I hear my father and brother yelling at each other. I feel terrible, but I feel a sense of peace when my brother comes home, because he is the block between my father and I. He teaches me what to do during uncomfortable situations, but he also takes over every time dad's switch flips and he loses it.

After the loud clashes and yelling ends, there is always an eerie silence. Then there comes my brother, walking into the room with new bruises and a fake smile on his face.

"It's alright sis, I told you to never worry about it, remember I always have your back."

I smile back at him but I know that he is pain and I know that it is my fault.
