The refreshing feeling of getting online swept me and I opened my eyes... Mentally of course. There were people bustling around and walking all over the city of Acadia. I looked at a window and saw that I didn't have my disguise on. Brown hair, green eyes, pale skin. My avatar was make to look attractive. At least. Look nothing similar to me of course. I looked around and decided to take a stroll before going to work. There was a cafe nearby and decided to sit down and read the news.
'Shadow strikes again! In today's news, Shadow has taken credit for exploiting the toy company called Tenoe for exploiting its workers by making them work free overtime and little to no vacation days. Had they decide to quit, they would pay companies to not hire them and were what many assumed forever ruined. However, after Shadow has given information on this shady act, and many other incidents such as buying out competition or paying to ruin businesses, its safe to say Tenoe has been shut down happily for others. The CEO and many other higher ups are being investigated and hold onto as possible accomplices. '
"Oh! Are you a fan of Shadow as well?"
I looked up and saw the waitress as she put down my coffee.
"Uh.. Not really. I just like reading the news." I said.
She giggles and waved her hand.
"Its okay if you are a fan. I'm actually a personal fan of him. He helped out my mother from collapsing from over work in that Tenoe incident." she said.
"Ah that's so? That's good to hear. Is your mother doing well now?" I asked.
"Yep. She also got help from a friend and they started up their own toy company after that. Its a small business for now, but we get a lot of customers exited for toys!" She said happily.
"If I may, can I ask where this place is?"
"Sure! Its a down the street of Faust academy, near the preschool area."
"Ah, I see! Thanks! I'll go check it out and maybe buy something for myself or a family member!" I said.
"Really?! Thanks so much!" She said.

After my coffee I went and got my usual disguise on and check my personal site. It seems like I had a few spam request from a guy asking for an exploit in Beat. I sighed. Why does everyone want to win in some stupid virtual fighting game? You don't even get money from it unless your betting. So useless. I did however know a few exploits and took up the job. I told him to meet me in the back alley by Helene street.
While I waited, I made sure I was completely covered. Mask on, hood up, shades on, and every inch of my body covered in a black long sleeve and black leather pants. Though in the end I have to cover my tracks in real life, I still very much like this avatar, and I don't plan on making a new one any time soon.
The guy came a while after and looked around. He came up to me and fidgeted.
"Are you... Are you the shadow?"
"Are you my client?" I responded back.
He was taken aback. Hmm. Taking a good look at him.. He does seem like my typical client in Beat exploits. Unattractive avatar, weasel like attitude. Probably has no life outside the game or takes it too serious. Yeah.. This is him. They say not to judge a book by its cover, but when you get various clients for the same thing, and they all look pretty much the same, you begin to feel that saying is utter bullshit.
"Well, duh. Why else would I come come to such a secluded part of Acadia? Stupid idiot."
I felt a pang of anger.
