❝ In tough times, all we need is our Normal Back. ❞

KUSH'S POV
" I don't think the same anymore. I'm done, Dan. I'll be staying here for some more time. I think they'll need me here. Uncle isn't in his best health. And, rest assured I'm making peace with Katie's advice. It's time now. "
I don't know whether I meant what I said, but I was definitely feeling that way.
" Kush... I'm sure as hell that you don't mean it. So, let's call it a night. FYI, I proposed to Heather. We're engaged now. " I knew that he wanted to tell me something but I was just busy with my sob story.
" Wow! Finally, some good news. I'm so happy for you two. " I really was.
" Let's meet and celebrate soon. "
" I'd be waiting for it. Bye, take care. "
" Bye... " I hung up.
My bags were packed and I was about to check out. Meera's parents weren't in their best spirits after what had happened, neither was I.
I sent them home promising that I'll be there for the night. I called Dad to inform the change in plans. Initially, I thought that Meera would be the one while I'll return home but alas it is not happening.
As I stepped out, I saw my coat on the door mattress. Last night, Meera had it.
It means that she came to return, probably to have a chat. Now, I think she heard me speaking to Dan. I don't know what part of the conversation she heard but I'm sure if it's the Meera I know she's on her way to the airport.
" Tom.... Tom..." I shouted, moving towards the private elevator. Tom was standing right there, waiting for me.
He took my bags." Where's Meera?" I asked.
" She checked out after an hour ago. I made some calls and she's booked a flight to Auckland." He said.
" Okay. You should've told me."
" I just found out..."
There was a moment of silence.
" A-a.. So, should we go to the airport now? Her flight leaves in an hour. " I looked at him.
He must be around 50s, can't guess with his physic. But, he's family after all. Tom's being with me since I was a toddler. I would make out that he was equally worried.
" No. Not tonight. I've already made commitments. And I think.... " It was a long pause.
"... It's time to let go. Someone said that if you really love somebody then you should have the power to let them go. Let's go to the Mathur's." The elevator dinged just in time and we got in.
" Kush... What you say is true. But, being close to Meera's parents wasn't any part of a plan or strategy. It was those situations and because of the good heart that you harbour. I know you can never really let go of them. You're never gonna be upset on her and she's always gonna be their daughter, so.... "
" Tom, I-I don't know. I really don't know what to do. I can't follow her everywhere, every day to convince her about the things that she isn't ready to accept. So, it's better to leave the matter alone and let her be alone. " I wasn't happy either but this is the best for us.
It's just been a few months and things have been crazy.
" Why not tell the truth about her father? " He asked as we walked towards the car.
