First year experience

At Salem State there is the first year experience office and there are posters everywhere that says firsts matter. I remember when I was a first year and how excited I was in starting the next chapter in my life at my dream school. I declared my major in education and then I declared a minor in history. I remember that during the year in Dunkins there will be a table from the first year experience office with information for certain things and reminders like when I first found out about advising. They told me when I have to go for advising. I met my adviser in the education department and every semester she helped me with what classes to take. Like in High School I made a point to join as many clubs as I can. My first two clubs/organizations I was in was MASSPIRG on the Hunger and Homeless campaign and the Alliance. At the Alliance was when I met my best friend and roommate Rachel. In the second semester I started helping out with the clean energy campaign, not just hunger and homeless campaign. One day I was talking a lot about MASSPIRG to Rachel and got her involved with it. I was also in the drag show as Jesse D and that was so fun. I had a great first year experience and my point in this for you who choose to come to Salem state try to make the most out of your first year. Get involved in clubs, take classes that interest you, and get a roommate who you clicked with.

Looking back I can't believe I am already on my last year here and I am planning on going out strong as I did coming in my first year here.
