I FELT DISGUSTING. For starters, it didn't help that my room reeked of vomit. Yeah, beautiful; I know. I cursed to myself silently. I probably got some kind of plague from Apollo as a farewell present. Screw him. I thought. I hope Zeus took care of him, he needs to be punished for everything he did to us. I was just about to get up when suddenly I heard someone call my name from down the hallway.
"Chase!"
I let out a groan. "Yeah,"
My Mom poked her head through my door and smiled. "Are you feeling any better?"
I laughed to myself. "Oh yeah, totally,"
She glared at me, but couldn't help to start laughing. "Your attitude again,"
I let out a sigh. In all honesty, I wasn't in the mood to argue with her. I had gone through so much and all I wanted was a nice good nap. Yeah, a dream free nap. "I'm sorry, I'll go back to bed," I winced as my Mom shut the door creating a loud slam allowing me to drift back into sleep. I didn't get far...
"CHASE WAKE UP!"
I bolted up out of bed. "AH!" I fell onto my floor, it was like I was repeating my birthday all over again.
Blake was standing in front of me, he had a goofy expression on his face. "Are you feeling any better?"
I went to get up. My sinuses felt clear, ok this is weird. "Oddly, yes,"
"Something is going on, and I don't like it,"
He turned away and started for the door. "Get some sleep, I am going to head out," I closed my eyes gently and felt myself doze off into a deep sleep.
And that's when I felt it. A burning jolt seared through me. Awaken. A voice echoed. Awaken. My eyes suddenly fluttered open revealing a figure standing at the end of my bed. My first reaction was to quickly inch up against the bedpost and straighten myself out. "Who...? What...?" I could barely find the words to speak.
The figure clenched the large angry looking spear in his hand. The sides of it were adorned with raven feathers which seemed to glow faintly. "Stay strong young Demigod," He murmured in a brooding voice. "A storm is coming, and soon you will need our help..." And that's when I was able to see his face. The figure's left eye was covered by a black eyepatch while his right one was vibrant blue. "Soon you will discover your true nature...your true destiny,"
"Who are you?!" I blurted. "How did you—?"
"Soon all will be revealed,"
I started to panic. Who the hell was this guy? And what did he want? He must be some kind of god. I thought. He has to be, but not one I have seen before. I could say with certainty however, that this god was not Greek, but in fact something more warlike and primal.
The traveler presented me with a glowing amulet. "When the time comes, this shall become of use to you, guard it with your life,"
"Just tell me who you are!" I shouted. "I am so confused...I don't know..."
His eye suddenly seemed to flare with life. "Perhapsyou are ready sooner than I thought," He stepped back allowing light to envelophis body completely. As it died down I suddenly gasped. On his head now was ashimmering crown made of raven feathers and animal tusks around the sides. Myheart began to pound, this god seemed familiar, I had seen a statue before ofhis likeness...in the Labyrinth! "I am Odin, Chief King of the Aesir, Lord of theSlain, and your salvation! I choose you to be my Valkyrie! Accept my offer andyou shall be spared from a horrible fate,"
