DON'T WORRY. I WON'T TURN YOU INTO STONE YET," Medusa cackled. Gee that was settling. I had a really bad phobia of snakes and spiders. I didn't understand how all these monsters existed; this had to be another one of my sick nightmares. I tried to slap myself awake but it didn't work.

"Nobody can save you now little one, I won't make it painful for you. I'll just add you to my collection," She said. I am not some negotiable collector's item. "It would be extremely exciting to see your father's reaction as I personally torture you," Medusa explained. My mom never mentioned my father ever; it was a mortal sin. Vivien kept her story brief with me, she fell in love a little too young and things just didn't work out. I desperately wanted to know more; maybe my father could protect me now.

"You know my father? Who is he?" I asked trying not to look at her.

Medusa's hissing subsided. "You don't even know...no matter, you'll be dead soon enough. Just open your eyes to me!" She ordered. There was no way in hell I was looking at that wretched reptile.

"Sorry lady! I don't do reptiles!" I heard her hiss in response.

"Fool! You can't even properly fight me, what kind of excuse of an imítheos hero are you?!" She asked. That was about the millionth time I heard that word. It made me wonder where Myra had gone.

"Alright, what the hell is an imítheos?" I asked. I needed to know what this word Myra used meant. Even if the truth would hurt. I knew she wouldn't entertain my question anyway. She laughed once more.

"You really are helpless. Perhaps, I will tell you a bit more about what you truly are," I could feel the heavy air thick with tension. "You're a demigod Chase! I can smell the stink of it on you; it's more powerful than anything I have ever encountered,"

"T—that's impossible!" I stammered. I knew full well it was true. All of the statues in the garden and the stories my mom read me and all the Greek phrases she used. It finally dawned on me that this wasn't a joke anymore. I looked into the safe and Medusa smiled cruelly in the reflection. I could see her unwrapping the bandages. Slowly a band of hissing snakes unveiled themselves from their former hiding spot. They were green and brown and hissing at my presence.

"But this is where you are mistaken my young Chase, I am very real!" She declared. For some reason I just couldn't accept it. I read enough books on Greek mythology but always assumed they were just simple made up myths by bored Ancient Greeks. "Even if you figure out who your father is, he wouldn't be able to save you," Medusa hissed. I don't get why she is so set on my whole father thing.

"I don't need saving!" I yelled. I tried to calm myself down; I was wasting time worrying about who I needed and didn't, what I needed was to find a way to kill Madame Snake Head. I suddenly got a sharp pain in my head. I heard a faint noise. I looked down and saw the spear trembling. I quickly held it up and it hurled Medusa across the room with an electric blast. That was awesome! She quickly recovered from my weak attack.

"Ha so you used demigod magic! I didn't expect that one," Medusa said. What the hell was she talking about?

"Uh what? Sorry couldn't hear you, must be all that snake hissing!"

"DEMIGOD MAGIC! I think you have eluded your death for way too long, young demigod!" Medusa charged at me. The Grace spear moved on a will of its own and swung around. It smacked Medusa in the ribs sending her hurtling over to the wall again. Whoa! The spear began to shake with power. I could feel the hissing behind me. I knew she was about to strike. As if I predicted her attack I took the spear and slashed upwards. Medusa let out a sickening noise when the spear made contact. I dropped the Grace family spear onto the ground and looked through the safe's reflection. Medusa's decapitated head lay on the ground like a bronze basketball. I instantly hurled up vomit onto the floor.
