"Good evening Sir," I greeted.
"You are here Miss Miller," Timothy said. The way he looks at me made my heart beats faster. I didn't expect that he could be this attractive just wearing a tuxedo.
"Obviously Sir," I replied. His gaze was intense that made my heart thump even faster.
My attention was diverted when I felt Adrian's hand touch my back.
"I didn't expect that you will come here brother," Adrian said casually to Timothy. His hand felt warm on my bare back.
Timothy didn't reply, as if he got nothing to say. But his eyes were boring at me as if saying I need to explain myself. If looks could kill, I'm probably dead now.
"Good evening gentlemen," A voice of a woman interrupted. A slender woman appeared to my vision and she was heading towards us.
She was wearing a glittery silver gown with a low neckline. She has long straight black hair and her blue eyes glittered in the dark. Her face looks gentle but something is hiding behind her smile. She looks so familiar but I cannot figure out where did I saw her. I'm sure she is a Sullivan because of her hair and eyes.
The Fitzgeralds greeted her back. I was so surprised how Timothy charmingly smiled at her. I kept quiet and waited for her to say something about me. Well, it will be rude if he ignores me.
"Hi, you must be," she finally said
"Bella Miller," I replied. I
"Nice to meet you, Bella. I am Keira Sullivan," she said and kissed my cheeks. My eyes widen a little upon hearing her name.
Keira Sullivan is the daughter of Arturo Sullivan, in short, she is my cousin. I almost didn't recognize her because of her makeup.
Seeing Keira flashed back memories of when we were still a child. She detests me so much. I remembered back then, she was used to be my playmates and friends. She was the star of the family because of her charm and beauty. Everyone was expecting her to be the heiress of our family business.
But everything changes when the company was handed to Dad instead of Uncle Arturo. I was five years old and Keira was seven. I didn't fully understand anything about it, but one thing was clear to me, that Keira hates me from that moment.
Without anyone looking, she used to hurt me if she had a chance. She would slap me, pinched me and kicked me. She was the person who made felt that I was an outcast of our family. That I was different from them.
Then the time came when I was fed up with her and I finally learned to defend myself. It was when she insulted Mom and tried to hurt me again.
From that day, I promised myself to be tough and never to be step on. I learned to love myself even in my flaws.
"Oh, here's Dad," Keira exclaimed as she saw Uncle Arturo approaching us.
"Happy Birthday Arturo," Breece greeted as he shakes his hand to him and handed a small gift. Adrian did the same.
"Happy Birthday Sir," I sweetly said. I hope she didn't mind that I don't have a gift.
"Thank you Miss Miller. You look gorgeous tonight," he replied with an intent gazed. I was feeling uncomfortable but I make sure that he didn't notice it.
"I am glad that you came all. I hope you enjoy the party," he stated.
Uncle Arturo excused himself as a two men wearing black tuxedos appeared to his side. They must be his business partners.
A music began to play and we were left at the side standing while others started to dance.
"Let's dance Breece," Keira invited, snaking her arms to Timothy while dragging him away from us. Why is he letting that snake tugged him around?
"Hey Niñita. Do you want to dance?" Adrian asked, interrupting my thoughts.
"That sounds good," I replied. He extended his hand and I gladly held it. I must enjoy this night and not be ruin by Keira and at the same time be vigilant.
We went to the dance floor and began to dance. We were swaying slowly and enjoying the music and company of each other. He was fun to be with and I'm starting to enjoy myself but my mood changes when I saw Keira and Timothy dancing intimately.
I cannot keep my eyes from looking at them especially at Timothy. He looks like he is enjoying himself with that snake. I tried to focus on Adrian and forget them. He was cracking some jokes and I tried to play along with him.
The music was about to end and some people were already leaving on the dance floor. Keira was walking towards me but I can't see Timothy anymore.
"Care to dance with me Felipe?" she asked sweetly. I nodded to Adrian telling him that it would be okay for me.
"Just go on Niñito. Enjoy yourself," I whispered. He was a bit hesitant but I know he won't want to be rude to Keira. I watched them two walking at the centre, leaving me behind.
I was about to walk away when a strong hand caught my arms. It was a firm but gentle grip. I gazed at the person responsible for it and my heart nearly stopped when I found out it was Timothy.
"Dance with me," his voice was full of authority.
"What if I don't want to," I challenged. I am not his secretary tonight!
"Then I will fire you for defying me Bella," he whispered which gave me goosebumps.
"You're unfair Timothy," I replied.
Slow music started and he placed his left hand into my waist that made me jerked a little. Then he intertwines his right hand to mine that gave the unfamiliar feeling of nervousness. I put my other hand to his shoulder and together we sway slowly at the beat of the music.
Our body was so close that made me hard to breathe. His grey eyes were so intoxicating and of a sudden, I remembered the taste of his lips. Heat curled down in my spine as he touches his lips behind my ears.
"I love the way you look tonight," he whispered that made the little hair on my neck rose. My surroundings became blurry and all I can see was his face. I can't hear anything, only his voice that made me hypnotize and forget who I really am.
"Thank you sir," I smiled and leaned my head on Timothy's shoulder and inhaled his musky masculine scent. If only things are not complicated and we can be friends just like we were young. I remember how he took care of me and treat me like his younger sister.
"Bella," he spoke. His voice was deep and the intensity of his stare was unbreakable. I looked at him and my knees weakened with his perfectly sculpted face. His face was slowly closing to mine and his lips were just inches away. Good heavens, I need to be distracted! I gulped and my heartbeats tripled its pace. I must resist his charm! He was about to kiss me when luckily the music stops and I moved away. Thank goodness!
"Excuse me sir. I need to go to a restroom," I lied. I smiled and hurriedly walked away from Timothy. That was close! I took a deep and closed my eyes. The crowd made my head swirled and I really need to relax. I saw a bar counter and sat down as I get a drink. Then, a man sat down beside me. Chilled strike my entire being as I saw a familiar tattoo on his hand.
