chapter twenty three

Liz and Natsu were fighting Lyon. How was he strong enough to overpower two mages?

They attempted at punching his face, but he blocked it with an ice attack. They jumped back.

"Man, there's no end to this." Liz have Natsu some fire to replenish his magic energy. "Just give up already, slanty-eyes!"

"Both of your eyes aren't much different."

"Let's finish this." Natsu finished the purple fire.

"Amusing." A crack in this ice appeared.

"Nani?" Liz rose an eyebrow, as Gray broke through, and made an appearance. "Gray!"

"Liza, Natsu. Let me deal with him."

"What?! He's already beaten you once before!" Natsu pointed out, causing Liz to roll her blue eyes.

"This will be the end of it. There won't be a next time."

"You're rather confident yourself."

"Ur died ten years ago because of me. But I can't let you get away with hurting my comrades, especially Liza, harming the village, and trying to melt that ice. We will accept our punishments together, Lyon."

Gray crossed his right arm over his left, getting into some kind of position. Lyon widened his eyes.

"That stance. Iced Shell?!"

"Iced Shell?" Liz and Natsu asked in sync.

"Ur cast a spell called Iced Shell ok this demon. Ur risked her life to seal it away."

"Haven't you heard? Ur is long dead!"

They widened their eyes at the memories.

"Have you gone mad?" Natsu asked,

"Retire the villagers to their original forms this minute! And then take your accomplices and leave!" A huge magic seal formed at his feet. "This is the last chance I'll give you!"

"I see. So you're using that spell as a bluff. What nonsense." All Gray did was glare harder at him, slouching lower, as heavy wind started to spin around the room.

"I'm serious."

"You. . .!" Lyon got ready to do a spell, but Gray's spell was stronger, knocking him down.

"Gray!" Liz put a hand over her eyes.

"The fact Ur died because of me will never change, no matter how much time passes. I have to take responsibility for it at some point. I'm going to do it here. I've been prepared to die for the last ten years!"

"Are you serious?!"

"Answer me, Lyon! Will we both die, or will we both live?!"

"Do it. You don't have the courage to die. You can't possibly have it!"

"Sorry. You're wrong."
