On December 31, 2017, idol groups EXO (엑소) and Red Velvet (레드벨벳) confirm rumors being contestants in the aforementioned show.
On January 5, 2018, members of idol group TWICE (트와이스) confirm their appearance in the show.
On January 10, 2018, BTS (방탄소년단) leader Kim Nam Joon (김남준) announce their appearance in the show too.
On January 15, 2018, both BLACKPINK (블랙핑크) and Wanna One (워너원) confirm their appearance.
On January 31, 2018, the mentors and other personnel are announced with 2NE1 member Sandara Park serving as the Representative of National Producers.
On May 15, 2018, the contestants arrive at their dormitories which will be their residence for the next 11 weeks.
On May 31, 2018, a teaser is unveiled. It announces that the show will premiere on June 1, 2018 at 11PM KST on SBS.
