U45: Book 1 and 2

Season 1 Episode 5 (June 30, 2018)

This episode started with a flashback of the previous episode. It featured the footage from the hidden cams in the dormitory and the First Ranking Announcement. Here, Trainee Chou Tzuyu (추쯔위) of JYP Entertainment takes first place. Then, Trainee Park Ji Min (박지민) of Big Hit Entertainment is saved from elimination.

Soon after, the remaining 36 trainees are gathered in a room. They notice once again a wall covered by a curtain. Then, Representative Park enters the room and announces their next mission, the Position Evaluation. The contestants will be divided into groups of six, three of which will be in the Vocal & Rap category while the remaining three will be in the Dance category. She unveils the Wall of Songs and here are their songs for choice:

Now, Representative Park lets them choose the song that they want to perform. She states that the contestant in Rank 36 will be the first to choose while the Rank 1 will get the advantage to choose her song last. Only six contestants can perform in each song. So, if the number exceeds the one with the higher rank will choose where to put him. Here are their final assignments:

Soon after, the teams start practicing their choreography and assign the song parts to each other. They choose their centers and their leaders.

After that, the live broadcast begins. Special MC Tiffany Young, former member of Girls' Generation (SNSD) introduces the contestants. The national producers vote on their unnie or hyung for each team. Trainees Ong Seong Woo, Kim Tae Hyung, Lai Guan Lin, Kim Ye Rim, Kim Jae Hwan, and Do Kyung Soo receive a 5,000 benefit each for placing number one in their respective teams. Meanwhile, Special MC Tiffany Young announces the contestants' ranking for the Vocal & Rap and Dance category.

After announcing the results, Trainee Ong Seong Woo (옹성우) of Swing Entertainment receives an additional 100,000 vote benefit for the Vocal & Rap category. Meanwhile, it was Trainee Do Kyung Soo (도경수) of SM Entertainment who garnered the most individual votes in the Dance category. Therefore, he also receives the 100,000 vote benefit.

After that, the 36 contestants choose their concept even though only 27 will perform on stage. Here are their assignments:

After, the Online Votes ranking is announced with Trainee Chou Tzuyu (추쯔위) of JYP Entertainment taking first place once again.
