Jade stared at her phone in anticipation. She had applied for a few jobs in the past week and was waiting anxiously for the answer to all her problems. It was hard finding a decent job without a degree, and having one should help, but apparently being a film major wasn't her best choice. Jade had been interested in film since she was young though, and couldn't ignore the call to continue her studies.
The jobs she applied for had nothing to do with film. They were more like office jobs, something to help with rent. Jade shared a flat outside the heart of London with her best friend Megan. She was extremely supportive of Jade's passion, but at the same time, everyone knew that Megan couldn't afford the apartment on her own with her minimum wage cafe job whilst she attended her last year of uni. Jade had to step up and help with the bills.
Tapping her fingers against her thigh before throwing her head back and sighing. Tossing her phone to the other side of her bed, she climbed out from the nest of blankets and pillows she had built and made her way to the kitchen. Standing at the island was her best friend and roommate, pouring two cups of coffee. Megan already wore her uniform, accompanied by the wonderful hat and tied up hair. "Morning beaut." Megan snickered, catching sight of the look Jade was pulling off. Jade simply groaned in response, moving to sit in the seat at the end of the island. With that response, Megan turned and frowned, sliding the second cup of coffee down for the brown-headed girl to drink. "Still no response I'm assuming?" She sighed and then took a sip of her drink. Jade shook her head, not looking up from her coffee cup.
Megan pursed her lips and slapped the table lightly. "Chin up buttercup! You'll find something soon." She said, ending the sentence with a bittersweet smile. Jade took one look at her friend, forcing a smile in return. Her blonde best friend rolled her eyes and pointed at her. "What about the job I told you about?" She questioned. Jade grimaced and looked at her friend. "You mean the one where I'd be sitting at a desk for nine hours a day?" She asked sadly. "No response." She mumbled afterwards. "Jade!" Megan groaned. She looked at her watch and sighed, grabbing a piece of paper. "Here, my friend Talia mentioned something about a job for her boyfriend's friend. I don't know what it is, but anything is better than nothing, remember? Even if it means taking his dry cleaning or something like that. Email them, today." She said strictly. She slid the paper over and looked at her friend seriously. "Seriously, we need this." She said. She grabbed her bag and walked out the front door, patting Jade's shoulder on the way out.
Jade picked the piece of paper up and looked at the email curiously. It was worth a shot, she would take anything at this point. Even a boring desk job would provide some sort of income. She took the paper, her coffee, and herself back to her bedroom where her computer was. Sitting at her desk, she typed out a nice email to the email, attaching a clip of her resume, and then sending it off with little hope. She wasn't even sure what the job was, but what was the point anyway. She slid off her chair and sat in front of her mirror, sipping on her coffee. She'd just have to wait and see.
