CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE
PLAYING WITH FIRE
THE WINTER WONDERLAND CHARITY WAS ONE OF THE FONDEST MEMORIES RAVEN HELD ONTO FROM HER TIME GROWING UP IN MYSTIC FALLS. And yet, fate seemed to manage to ruin even that for her.
"I'm sorry, you're going to do what exactly?" The witch yelled at Tyler in the middle of the town square. Said hybrid looked at her with pleading eyes. "Hayley found a witch strong enough to do the body jump spell. You know, the Klaus specialty." He explained her and Raven shot him a glare. "So, you're going to put him in someone else's body and then what?"
"We'll encase the body in concrete then bury it." Tyler said it as if that was a magic solution and everything would be fine after that. "Why not just desiccate him like Bonnie did before?" Raven sighed and Tyler shrugged. "Because, as you know, to do that spell, you have to stop a human heart. I was a little short of volunteers."
"Haha." Raven replied dryly. "So, who was dumb enough to volunteer their body to be a Klaus sublet?"
Tyler didn't respond, and after a few moments it hit Raven who exactly was dumb enough to volunteer. "Okay, don't freak out." Tyler quickly said, knowing her well enough to see what her face expression meant― angry going straight up towards murderous.
"Freak out? Freak out?" Raven yelled, a little high pitched from panic, and shot Tyler another glare. "Are you insane? You volunteered? If Klaus doesn't kill you, Caroline will, and trust me, I'll be happy to help her!"
"Caroline won't kill me, not if you're in on it." Tyler pointed out and Raven's jaw dropped. "You're using me as a rage-shield from Caroline?"
"Besides, it's not forever. Just long enough for the hybrids to be able to completely disappear." Tyler pointed out, completely ignoring Raven's remark. "Well, I can think of better ways for us all to spend the rest of our senior year then you buried in bloody concrete, Tyler!"
With a soft sigh, Tyler took a step towards Raven. "Look, it's my responsibility. This started with me. This has to end with me." He explained to her and Raven looked away, gritting her teeth. This town didn't allow her one free day.
"I need your support, okay?" He continued. "Because I trust you to fix things if it all goes downhill and Care trusts you enough to know that there'll be a Plan B in case it does. If you promise you'll help if you have to, it's gonna be fine."
Behind them, Caroline entered the town square and with one last sigh Raven looked back at Tyler. "Fine. Talk to Caroline about this. If she says yes, I'll consider it." The witch gave in before she left the square, dialing in Stefan's number.
"Hey, sorry, I know I'm late." He hurriedly admitted and Raven chuckled. "I'm not Caroline. But if we three are really gonna do this being a friend in your time of need thing, then you to need to work on your punctuality. I'm in a crisis. And so will be Caroline in about ten seconds. Where are you?"
