Splash...
I pick up a few more stones getting ready to chuck them into the lake. The sun was setting and I could hear the loud chatter of excited voices coming from the party. Dean had arrived home just as the sun started to sink in the sky. So I decided to wait by the lake until he was ready.
My stomach was in knots. To many emotions were tangled up inside me. I chucked another stone trying to block out my thoughts. It skipped a few feet across the water until it made a slight plop sound and sank between the ripples.
"Deep in thought are we?" I stiffened as I recognized that voice.
"Aiden?...." I turned behind me to see him leaning against a tree. He smiles as he came closer.
I took a few steps back until I could feel the cool water across my feet.
"You don't have to be afraid of me. I promised Dean I wouldn't try anything." He bends down and picks up a stone and hands it to me. I take it trying to avoid touching him. He notices and chuckles. "Are you really that worried our bond will form over a touch? " I shrug my shoulders before chucking the stone into the water.
"I wanted to kiss you when we were playing in the mud... Obviously a touch could possibly do more." I shift unconfortably looking around for Dean.
"He's coming... we both wanted to see how the bond worked. It seems that while your here, Dean is the one you are loyal to. Like I said you don't have to be worried. I'm not gonna try anything." He walks a few feet away before he sits down.
I can tell in the way he looks at me that he's slightly hurt. I sigh sitting down next to him. "I'm sorry.. it's just that I'm so worried. I'm leaving here before I know what Leo plans to do. I just want to know Dean and the village will be safe.... also the bond between you and I... I can already feel it coming back." I let out a sigh as I watch the last rays sink behind the trees.
"Selfishly that makes me feel good. Though when it's my turn to say goodbye to you I know I'll hate it." Aiden nudges my shoulder trying to lighten the mood.
"Sorry I kept you waiting Sêr. " I look up to see Dean making his way towards us.
"No problem." I can feel my heart skip as I catch sight of him. Aiden and I get up and make our way to him.
"I can't deny that I'm pleased to see she's still into me even when your around." Dean says as he pulls me toward him. He plants a soft kiss on my cheek. I feel a slight twinge in my chest as I see a hint of pain shoot through Aiden's eyes.
This was gonna be a challenge. Trying to spend my last night with Dean... and trying not to feel guilty because Aiden was here.
"I can't say it'll be easy to watch but I'll try and stay out of your way... for now." Aiden playfully punches Dean in the shoulder as we head towards the party.
I'd just have to make the best of it. I flash them both a small smile as we head towards the noise.
