"From what I've heard from you - and this is just my opinion and you have no need to make any decisions according to it - I personally think you shouldn't demand for answers straight away," my therapist said carefully. "think about it; this is years and years of stuff and traumatic events you're wanting to dig up. It might be best if you just wait, ease yourself into this."

I stopped in the middle of the kitchen.

"You don't understand, you haven't been deprived of the truth all your life. Haven't lived thinking your parents died, or anything else I've been through. I deserve at least this."

"That's fair enough, Minhyuk. I just want you to be ready for what you may face. You've come so far, become such a strong and happier person that I don't want this to knock all the way back to square one, or worse."

"Let it. I deserve to know why my Dad didn't bother telling me he'd been watching over me for all these years without telling me. I need to know the truth."

The mug I held in my hands slipped, hitting the floor, however, I couldn't hear anything beyond the sound of the blood rushing past my ears, the tea and shards arranged in a pattern at my bare feet.

"I deserve this much."

"Babe?" I looked up, Jooheon peering into the kitchen suddenly. He sighed, offering me a sympathetic smile before gently pushing me away from the shards and collecting them one by one until he threw them in the bin, then mopped up the spilled tea. "Do you want another one?"

"No, probably not a good idea," I sighed. "thank you."

"Minhyuk," concern was laced in his voice as his hands touched my shoulders. "if you don't want to do this, we don't have to."

"I need this, I need to know. I know you're worried but I need this, Jooheon." I replied.

"If you say so," he sighed, moving to lean on my shoulder. "I should probably go get him before your parents arrived. Is Kyun coming too?" I nodded. "I'll get Kihyun to come get him."

"I owe you my life," I sighed, eventually throwing my arms around him. "Thank you so much."
"It's nothing babe," he chuckled, twirling his car keys around his finger. "I'll keep you updated if anything happens. I love you!"

I smiled; despite it being over a week since that morning at the beach, I still couldn't get used to Jooheon's sudden confessions, my chest felt warm whenever he said those words.

"I love you too." I called out as he rounded the corner out of the kitchen, the front door closing not long after.

After sleepless nights lying awake thinking how I could make sense of the fact that Mr Kim, the man who practically put my life in order, the man who got time to where I was now was actually my father. My brain couldn't yet fathom that he'd been there from the start (I assume), and that he was fortunate enough to make memories with my Mother, whilst I only really know what she looks like via photos.

I didn't hesitate to let my parents know, and they only replied that they were coming over as soon as possible and I agreed; but I didn't think they would come within two days.
I heard the doorbell chime, and quickly went to open, both of them avoiding any form of eye contact with me.
