"And then we just hugged. Nothing major. Apart from, that is, my tears," I explained into the fabric of Jooheon's jeans, my head resting comfortably on his thigh whilst he alternated between playing with my hair and drinking a mug of tea - classic Tuesday night. "but, I guess we're on good terms. I start working again tomorrow?"
"Oh wow, really?" He seemed genuinely stunned, giving me a gentle nudge to move so he could stand up. I reached for his hand. "What's up? Why did you react like that?"
"No; I'm happy for you babe, I promise. Do you want tea too?" He smiled awkwardly, slipping out of the living room. I lingered momentarily, then quickly followed behind.
In the kitchen, Jooheon stood facing the counter, swaying gently as I wrapped my arms around him from behind.I kissed a patch of skin below his ear, nuzzling into his nape. "Babe? Is everything okay?"
"I..I didn't want to bring it up to you today because you're so happy and I'm so happy that you're finally happy after everything but, then you mentioned that you start work and-" his voice suddenly cracked, and I immediately turned around and into my arms, moments before he started to cry on my shoulder.
"Jooheon, what's wrong? You're scaring me," I muttered quietly, stroking his hair. "was it something at work?"
He shook his head. "No, no, I wish it was that."
"I'm scared. What's wrong?"
"Can you just hold me for a minute?"
"Of course." I mused, throwing my arms around him once again and squeezing him as tight as possible, in hopes I could squeeze any problems or worries out of him. It'd been long since I saw Jooheon as upset as this, and it threw my entire world off course.
He patted my back after a few minutes, asking me to release him. "Okay, I'm okay. I just had a bit of a moment."
"Babe," I touched his face gently. "you know you can tell me anything."
"I don't know, I don't know how to tell you this," he sighed. "it's okay- I'm okay. Let's go back to the living room."
"No, Jooheon. Something is bothering you, and I don't want you to bottle it up. You know you can tell me anything, we're past the stage where you can't tell me stuff because you might feel uncomfortable like, we've seen each other naked plenty of t-"
"Minhyuk!"
"What?" I laughed, throwing my arms around him. "It's true, but my point was, I'll always be willing to listen to you, even if it's about fluff in your belly button, or someone got a bit rude at wo-"
"I'm leaving." He suddenly burst out, suddenly sounding the most deflated and lifeless I had ever heard the embodiment of the sun be. The smile that was on my face slowly faded, watching him nervously tug at the hem of his t-shirt, avoiding eye contact.
"What?"
"I didn't know how to tell you; this all came up when I met up with my mum, and I was going to tell you when I got back but then you were in the hospital and you found out about your Father and ididnthaveitinmetoivershadowyourproblems-"
