(I thought it worked with after they leave the hospital :) )

JACK'S POV

As Mark leaves, his Dad goes silent for a minute before asking me a question.

"Do you want to marry Mark?" he says casually.

The question knocks the life out of me and I stumble around trying to find an answer. "I- uh- wha... um- I..."

He laughs at my reaction before expanding on his question.

"Not today or when you finish school, but do you, at some point in your life, want to marry Mark?"

"Well, I- I guess. Why do you ask?" I don't say it aloud, but I do think won't you be dead?

"Because, I feel as if... something will happen. Something that will cause, especially you, to break. But don't dwell about it; it's probably a mix of the boredom and cancer talking." He laughs, "I know that you two will die old and wrinkly together."

I cringe slightly, imagining Mark having wrinkles and grey hair. It just sounded too weird at the moment. I just want to enjoy being young. We make small talk for a few more minutes before I see his eyes start to droop shut. By the time Mark walks back in, puffing, his Dad is sleeping and I was watching his heart monitor.

"I walked all over this fucking hospital and there were no M & M's. Sorry."

"It's alright. But that would explain heavy breathing." I giggle.

"I may look like I work out, but trust me, it's all natural. Do you wanna go?"

"Yeah. Can we get ice-cream?" I plead.

"My god," he mock rolls his eyes and laughs, "you're such a two year old."

"I know, but you love it." I manage to say before he kisses me.

"I love you." He whispers into my ear as we walk out of the hospital into the parking lot.

MARK'S POV

I pull into the parking lot by an ice-cream and frozen yoghurt place. Jack looks over at me, wide-eyed.

"What?" I ask him.

"I didn't think you would actually take me." He says with his voice full of surprise.

"Well if you don't want any, I can always drive you home......"

"No! I want ice-cream." He says and quickly jumps out of his seat. All I can manage to do is laugh. For a kid who had a shitty start to life he is too adorable. I get out of the car and follow him into the building which on the inside is covered in pastel swirls. Jack stands at the counter looking at the variety of different flavoured ice-creams and frozen yoghurt.

"What do you want? My treat." I smile at him and I see his smile falter for a second. I'll ask him about it when we sit.

"I'll just have a chocolate one, please."

I can see that he is eyeing off something on the special creations board and glance up and quickly work out what he would be looking at. I walk up to the guy at the counter and tell him what I'd like and pay him. I move off to the side slightly and see that Jack has found a small table by the window. Quickly my number is called and I walk over to collect them and walk over to the table. I sit the ice-cream down in front of him and his eyes widen.

"Mark, they gave you the wrong one, I di-"

"They gave me the right thing. I swear I said a double choc sundae and strawberry sundae."I grin. "I saw you looking at the specials board and knew that's the one you wanted."
