Chapter 9 - Battle of the 2

I rolled out the way as Oniah shot at me with her revolver. A ball of electricity flew towards me so I back-flipped out of the way. Using my staff, I aimed then hit the ball right back at her. Before she could blink it hit her right in the stomach.

The good thing about these weapons were that they were created for us so we didn't feel the pain, just the force. The enemy on the other hand, felt a whole lot a pain.

While she was distracted by her own attack backfiring, I ran up to her and jammed the blunt end of my staff into her back. She collapsed and I lightly placed my foot on her back, declaring victory.

"Alright girls, take a break." I held my hand out and helped her up. Pulling her off the ground, we grabbed out water bottles and walked over to Carlos who was bouncing a ball.

"I've seen how skilled you two are. Hope your quite good for a beginner." Oniah flung her arms around my shoulder and said, "My bestfriend over here has been doing combat training for 5 years." Carlos looked at me in slight shock for a split second but smiled and turned to Oniah. "You know, i thought you were a beginner too, but you have great aim, you just need to work on your defense and flexibility." Oniah nodded and rested her head on my shoulder.

"You girls can go home now but make sure to come back immediately after school tomorrow." We nodded but then he added, "Also keep your katomas and weapons with you at all times. There has been sightings of enemy ships on the radar and they will start appearing soon." i nodded and both Oniah and I headed up the stairs.

"Wait guys, you cant just parade around with weapons like those. Your katomas are able to keep it for you." I turned to Jema and handed her my staff. For a nymph her size, she held it like it was weightless. Holding the staff to the wolf symbol on her forehead, it shrunk then disappeared. Oniah gave her's so Toma and the same thing happened; it shrank then disappeared.

We had already changed back so our katomas hid inside our cloth. After saying bye to Carlos, we walked towards my house since it was surprisingly close to the base.

"So Hope, you ready for the creatures we're gonna have to fight?" Asked Oniah as she played with the flower she had picked. "I thought it was all some trick at first, but now i'm pumped and ready." She laughed and agreed. We eventually reached the front of my house.

"Well Hope, I'll see you at school tomorrow.' I nodded and waved bye as she walked to her house, that was two blocks away from mine. i took a deep breath then knocked on the door because I forgot to grab my keys.

The door was suddenly pulled open by an angry looking dad and an upset Jason. "Hope, where have you been!?" I grinned nervously and scratched my head, "Dad, Jason I can explain and when I do please don't be mad and believe me."
