A Dusk's End

Chapter 11

Ray and I sat in the living room as he was gonna help me connect with Dawn better. I didn't know what to really do since this would my first date ever. I sound honestly sound pathetic when i say that in my head. The fact Ray last so long with Kendall, puts some credibility to him. Though if we were to be technical, he's only date Kendall as I know. I then started to feel doubts but I try not to let that in my head. I sat quietly the entire time, he didn't say anything either. He just kinda, stared at me, as if studying every little detail. I felt a little uncomfortable that he doing that, but maybe there was a reason. I wanted to say something, but nothing could really be released. I don't know why either. 
"Tsk, tsk, tsk." Ray finally said but in a disappointed tone.
"W-what?" I asked nervously. 
"You're gonna be a nervous wreck on this date." Ray responded.
He was definitely right about that. I felt like the gravity was getting heavier upon me, like I was being squashed. 
"Yeah, I'm definitely nervous." I admitted.
"And when does this date start?" He asked.
"I don't know yet." I responded.
"Well then, stop being nervous, let me help you a bit then." Ray offered.
"Well, I can't argue about getting some help." I said nervously again. 
"Jeez you need some work." Ray pointed out. "Let's head to Mark's house, I don't want to wake up Kendall." 
I just nodded at him, though I didn't understand why we would go to Mark's house.

I got in the car and we began heading our way over to the house. I was still confused why we were going to Mark's house, but I didn't complain. What sucks was that Mark lived a pretty good distance. I guess it's how a reaper wants it, privacy. A little bit longer, we finally made it to the house. Still looked the same as it did before. We walked up to the door and Ray knocked on the door. Nearly instantly, Mark opened the door.
"What is it this time?" Mark asked in a slightly annoyed mood.
"I'm helping Chase with...love." Ray responded while holding back a chuckle.
"Why did you bring him here then?" Mark asked, looking confused as ever.
"You know why." Ray smirked.
"You know I don't use my powers for others." Marked pointed out.
"Yeah, but can this be an acceptation?" Ray asked. "It only be for this time."
Marked sighed and nodded his head. I wondered what powers Mark actually had. I didn't think Death could truly help me, but I guess it can.

We walked in and the room was completely different than before. It was actually a fancy restaurant. No one around though, other me and Ray.
"Where are we?" I asked Ray.
"Death isn't entirely about depression and darkness. If fact Death, likes to play around when bored." Ray explained.
Mark then cam from no where, he looked kind of embarrassed
"Look, I'm doing this once okay!" He yelled, his face turning red.
"Don't worry Mark, we won't be anywhere else in your little world." Ray responded and winked.
Mark, still looking embarrassed, walked off until he turned invisible.
"What is this place exactly." I asked Ray.
"Well, is like a simulation. For this time only though, we'll be using it to help with your date." Ray responded.
I just nodded in understanding. He then sat me down into a chair. He snapped his fingers and Dawn appeared in front of me. Though, she wasn't real, more like an android. She was sitting in front of me, I already felt nervous as it is. I could feel sweat sliding down the side of my head. Ray noticed it to, and walked over to me.
"Look, just relax alright." Ray said. "Just breathe in and out." 
I did what he said, it was slowly working, but it wouldn't be enough.
"Try talking to her, it would be weird if you didn't" 
"I uh, um, uh." I couldn't say anything, I was entirely nervous.
Ray just chuckled at me, which made me feel worse about myself.
"Look, let me show you." Ray said and patted my shoulder.
He walked over to a chair and snapped his fingers again, spawning Kendall. She was sitting in front of him and he just smiled.

"So, how has your day been so far?" Ray asked her.
"Oh it's been fine how about yours?" Kendall asked back.
"Oh I've been doing alright, though it's better now since I get to be with you tonight." Ray responded.
"Always know how to make me smile." Kendall said while giggling.
The android felt so realistic, I could barely tell she wasn't the real Kendall at all. It was just weird, but helpful at the same time. I looked back to Dawn again, just seeing her smile at me made blush. 
"S-so how has your day been so far?" I asked her.
"It's been good, yours?" She asked back.
"It's been fine, nothing particular." I responded.  I felt like I needed to complement her, even if she wasn't the real Dawn.
"You look amazing tonight." I said, slightly less nervous than before.
"Why thank you, you wouldn't believe how long it took to fine the proper clothes for tonight." Dawn mentioned.
"How hard was it?" I asked in curiosity.
"There was this one dress I wanted wear, though it was incredibly expensive and I didn't want to look too fancy for our first date. So I found another store, it had this dress and well it was reasonable and thought it would look pretty." Dawn explained.
"Well you definitely pulled it off." I said, feel confident now since we're a full conversation.
"Hehe, you don't look to bad yourself. It definitely makes you cuter." Dawn said while giggling.
"Now you're just being nice." I said, blushing like crazy.
I looked over at Ray, he was just smiling at me. I felt accomplished now that maybe I'll actually be fine. I then looked over at Kendall, who was smiling at me too. I felt confused why she was looking at me.
"He's grown up so fast." Ray said.
"That's for sure." Kendall agreed.
I then realized, that Kendall seemed off. She's not acting like Dawn is, was she real!
"Are you the real Kendall?" I asked, while looking shocked.
"As real as I can be." Kendall responded while chuckling.
I then turned back and still saw Dawn smiling.
"Does that mean, she's real too?" I asked.
"Nope, she's fake, I just slipped in Kendall to join me in helping you." Ray responded. "Seems like it worked." 
I then felt more relieved that I'm finally not afraid anymore. I can't wait to see her again on our date. Though, I just hope nothing goes wrong in the process.
