Andy's mom and her brother always loved Woody's Round up when they were kids. They would play with their Jesse and Woody dolls all day and sleep with them all night.
As she grew up though, she outgrew Woody's round up and abandoned her Jesse doll. Her brother however, held onto his Woody doll. He clung to that doll more when he got sick. When he passed, his sister took his Woody doll and kept it with her always.
When Andy was young, he took a liking to the cowboy that his mom had cherished for all these years. "Mommy, can I have him," Andy asked as he pointed to Woody sitting up on the shelf.
She knew her brother would want his favorite toy to be played with, so she took the doll down and hugged it gently. "Promise me that you'll take real good care of him for me," she said gently as she handed Woody to Andy.
Andy's eyes lit up and he hugged Woody tightly. "Oh I promise," he exclaimed happily and ran off to play cowboys with his new best friend.
Andy's mom smiled as she watched Andy play with Woody all day long and sleep with him every night. She began going through some boxes and found some other things that her brother had owned. She quickly washed them then brought them to Andy's room for him to enjoy. "Cool new Woody bedding and posters! Thanks mom," Andy exclaimed as he began putting the stuff where it belonged.
Woody was Andy's favorite toy and all the other toys knew it, but they never really complained because Andy played with all of them equally. "Andy's birthday party has been moved to today," Woody announced reluctantly, knowing how the toys would react to this news. Every Christmas and birthday they went through the stress of worrying about one of them being replaced. No matter how much Woody tried to assure them that it wouldn't happen, they still panicked.
Woody sent out a troop of plastic army men to scope out the party, while the rest of the toys waited anxiously upstairs. They watched the boxes that came with each kid, each one bigger than the one before it.
The toys were terrified as they listened carefully to each gift given. However, when the solders announced the final gift, they soon calmed down. "See, nothing to worry about," Woody said. However, just as he said that, the solders announced a surprise gift. They toys listened, but all they heard was static.
"Get to your posts," the soldiers said when they had finally heard something. Woody ordered everyone to get back to their positions because Andy was on his way upstairs.
Quickly the toys took their positions right before Andy burst through the door with his friends. In his excitement, Andy pushed Woody aside and knocked him off of the bed. Woody frowned and waited until Andy was gone before moving at all. Andy had never shoved Woody like that before. He tried to rationalize and say that it was Andy's excitement over his new toy that made him do it, but something inside of him told him it was more than that.
He had been replaced.
"Woody, who's up there with you," Rex asked, breaking Woody from his thoughts.
Woody coughed from the dust under the bed and emerged, causing the group to gasp. "Why are you under the bed," Mr. Potato Head asked snidely.
"Oh no! Have you been replaced," Rex asked in a panic.
Woody's heart clenched, but he wouldn't let it show. "What did I tell you? No one has been replaced," he said as he brushed the dirt off of himself. "Andy was obviously very excited over his new toy and knocked me down on accident," he muttered. Mr. Potato Head rolled his eyes at this and they all watched as Woody climbed up the bed for a better look.
There, in his spot, was an astronaut type toy standing proudly. The new toy blinked a few times then looked around. He opened up the wrist of suit and began talking to it. Woody watched curiously, trying to hold back his laughter, before he spoke up. He tried to rationally explain that Buzz was in his spot on the bed, but the new toy kept going off about being a Space Ranger and needing his ship fixed.
All of the toys fawned over Buzz. They found him fascinating and it bothered Woody, but the thing that killed Woody the most was: Andy started playing with Buzz more than him.
He had been replaced.
Woody heard Andy and his mom talking in the hallway a week later. They were going out to eat and Andy was allowed to bring one toy. Woody knew it wasn't going to be him so he built up a plan in his mind. Without a moments pause, Woody went through with his plan and knocked Buzz out of the window.
Andy hurried into his room to get Buzz, but couldn't find him anywhere. He sighed heavily and grabbed Woody before heading out the door. Buzz quickly hopped onto the car before it drove off and hung on. He would get Woody back for trying to kill him.
When they arrived at Pizza Planet, Buzz grabbed Woody and pulled him into a bush. "What's your prob...." he stopped and stared at the giant rocket ship in awe. "We have to get in there," Buzz said as he yanked on Woody's arm and pulled him for the doors. They were almost crushed by the doors closing, but people ran in at the last second, saving them from being crushed.
Woody looked frantically for Andy while Buzz dragged him around the restaurant. "There," Buzz yelled as he pulled Woody to a claw game and climbed in.
"Stop it," Woody growled as Buzz pulled him in with him.
Suddenly Woody heard a voice that made him cringe. "Get down," he hissed as he pulled Buzz down below the alien toys.
Sid walked to the claw machine and banged the glass. "Scud could use a new chew toy," he muttered as he stuck his money into the machine and began playing. Sid pulled out the alien above Buzz and he stared at the glass. "A Buzz Lightyear! No way," he yelled as he put more money into the machine.
Woody groaned and held onto Buzz's feet, trying to keep him from getting pulled up, but the alien toys pushed them upward. "This is very bad," Woody muttered as the fell into the chamber.
Sid pulled the two toys out happily and shoved them.into his bag. Woody and Buzz watched the scenery zip by as Sid skateboarded towards his house. Andy's house was right there, but neither could get to it with being exposed.
Scud growled and barked as Sid opened his front door. Sid put his hand into the bag and pulled out the alien. He tossed the alien to his dog, who chewed on it viciously. Woody and Buzz both watched in horror, until Sid hurried into the house and ran to his room.
The two toys watched as he tortured one of his sister's dolls and the looked for things to torture them with. "Yes," Sid yelled in triumph as he held up a rocket and then strapped it to Buzz with duct tape. Sid then grabbed a book of matches and grinned evilly at Woody. "Come my friends, let's play," he said as he grabbed Woody and Buzz then sprinted outside.
Sid lit the BBQ and threw Woody into the fire and then lit the rocket strapped to Buzz. The last thing Woody saw, before he melted, was Buzz falling to pieces from the sky.
O_O Hrm scary much. Sid's a psycho.
