August sped to September. Awsten and I had picked out a house and had moved in. We said our goodbyes for now to our parents and only brought Jet along. Some of our furniture came with us, the rest being sold. I had to quit my job, which I didn't really care much about. Once we have this kid, it's not like I'd be able to work anyways. Awsten will go on tour sometimes, someone has to be there to watch the kid.Of course, it was sad to say goodbye to Otto, Geoff, and Jawn. They were staying in Houston for now. Who knows if they'd like to move out here. I don't think Geoff would be up to moving here with his daughter. Maybe later.
So now Awsten and I were living together and weren't separated by different apartment buildings. In four months this house won't be just us two, and we'll be able to show off our wonderful child.
I never did get to check what gender the baby is, as Awsten and I decided on it being a surprise. He's still hoping for it to be a girl, and I wish for it to be too just to see him happy.
September turned into October and our house was decorated in Halloween designs. Awsten wouldn't allow me to help out, only to hand him the decorations because he was afraid of me accidentally slipping and falling straight on my stomach.
During Halloween, children dressed in their costumes rang the doorbell and asked for candy. Awsten bought me the costume of a cat while he stuck a name tag to his chest reading "Dave" - a reference to The Office.
That night we binged old horror films that shouldn't really have been considered horror. We laughed at the horrible acting and I fell asleep before we could pass the third film.
October turned to December. Christmas and my birthday both in the same months. Mine came first, luckily. That day, December fifth, Awsten threw a huge party for me. He invited all of our friends and woke me up to everyone shouting "Happy birthday!"
We all sat and ate cake, not wanting the day to end. They would all have to leave by tomorrow, their plane ticket back forced them.
When it was Christmas, we shipped presents to our friends and received from friends. A tree sat in the corner of the living room, gifts underneath. Half from Awsten to me and the other half is from me to Awsten.
I bought him a new necklace, a yellow polaroid camera, new boots, and a watch. He completely spoiled me and bought a charm bracelet, a record player, a poetry book, and a new set of fancy underwear.
With December came January. This entire time I was planning Awsten's birthday that I completely forgot that the baby would be born this month. As I was decorating for his birthday, all of our friends to come to our house, my water broke. He wouldn't be home for another hour so I had to drive myself to the hospital.
I was rushed into a room and called Awsten as soon as I laid down. "Hey, Aws," I smiled, talking to the phone while it was in speaker mode.
"Hi, baby," he laughed. "Everything alright?"
Doctors came in to check in on me and get everything set up. They double and triple checked all of their instruments and machines. It was all overwhelming, but that was probably because this is my first time in this situation.
"You know how you said you didn't want anything for your birthday?" It was hard to contain myself while waiting to give birth. "Well, Skye's on her way." With that, he screamed and asked for which hospital I was at and which room I was in.
It didn't even take him twenty minutes to appear in the room, his hair all messed up due to the wind. He sat next to me and cried, holding my hand. "Oh, God, I can't wait!"
When the doctors started to tell me to push, it hurt like hell. I hated to see Awsten see me like that, but this is the result of getting pregnant. It felt like I was burning alive, and we weren't close to being done.
The entire time Awsten was encouraging me to continue. "You're doing amazing," he sobbed, way too excited. "I love you."
The doctors called out that the head was appearing. Just a few more pushes. I screamed, using all my strength.
What felt like forever only took hours. The doctors held our newborn, informing us that it was, in fact, a girl. Awsten laughed, trying his best to believe that what he wanted was coming to life.
"That's Knight Skye," Awsten choked, ruffling his hair with his hand. Even if she did look like every other baby in this place, just looking at her made me proud. She's ours.
Going home that night, I was put into a wheelchair and they rolled me out, on to the seat of the car. The next day we would come back to bring Skye home. It was hard to sleep that night when the rush from giving a child was still there.
Awsten wouldn't stop pouring his heart into his words, beyond happy that Skye was born on his birthday.
Skye was brought home the following day, wrapped in a blanket. At home, we set her in a baby cradle. Our friends never did visit us that day; we told them it would be too much noise for the baby.
Then January became February. The most eventful thing that month was Valentine's. Awsten's love for me was off the charts that day, the same with me to him. We watched teen movies while Skye slept, crying only occasionally.
That month also had us watching Skye's facial features. Her nose like a button and eyes blue like Awsten's. Her small hands would grab either of our fingers when they got close to her. She grew very fast and that made us scared that we weren't enjoying every moment. It would be impossible to enjoy it any more.
We didn't tell the internet about Skye yet. A few months from now, when she isn't just a newborn, I'll be up to posting about her. Not enough for her to be in every single one of my posts.
Sleeping without a baby bump felt so much better. I forgot how it was to not have a huge lump on your stomach with a child inside.
Awsten considered it was a right time now to be able to kiss my neck, now that there wasn't a living being inside of me. When walking around outside with Skye in a carriage, he would sneak his lips to my neck and give at most a peck before I could jokingly swat him away.
As July came closer, I kept reminding myself to be aware of what was going on. It never left my mind once what Awsten was planning.
