Chapter 14:
Juliet's POV:
My heart pounded as I watched the boys tear up the ice. Both teams were skating so fast, vomit sat in my throat as I tried to gulp it down. Someone patted my shoulder and I looked up as coach smiled down at me. He had so much faith in me. I nodded and looked back onto the ice. I was going on for Nazem Kadri so my eyes were always watching him.
I saw him skating towards the bench.
"Let's go McDavid!" Coach yelled. I got out on the ice and I instantly heard a wave of cheering from the crowd. Everyone loved playing at the Air Canada Centre it was the livest crowd of all the NHL.
I dug into the ice skating up for the rush I was centre for lupul and McClement. Lupul tossed the puck out as I skated in the middle of the ice. I received the pass and deked out the defence men. I came in on Corey Crawford and I went to my backhand and went top shelf.
The buzzer went and I turned...
The puck was in the net.
I looked towards my team as everyone was stunned. Suddenly the crowd erupted in cheer and McClement, Lupul, Reilly and Gardiner skated over to me and patted my helmet.
"Atta girl, demon!" They said as a song played. We skated towards the bench and everyone was smiling at me.
"What a beauty goal kid!" Dave Clarkson said. Caleb skated to the top of the circle and I went over to him and he hit his helmet against mine.
"Way to go, demon. Keep it up." He said. I smiled and nodded and went to the face off.
"Ladies and Gentlemen...Our goal today was scored by number ninety-one...Juliet McDavid!" The announcer said and everyone cheered.
"Assisted by number nineteen, Joffrey Lupul!" Everyone cheered again and Jonathan Toews skated over and smirked.
"That was a pretty nice goal, kid." He said.
"Thanks. Now to make my night I just have to beat you on the face off." I smiled. He chuckled.
"No one beats me on the faceoff. Especially rookies." He was right because he beat me clean and then smirked at me. As the game went on I began to feel more comfortable and got into a groove. We tied two-two and in the dressing room everyone was congratulating me.
"First goal on the first shift? What a beauty." James Van Reimsdyk smiled.
"Thanks JVR." I smiled.
"Gentlemen!" Coach called.
"And lovely lady." He smiled walking over to me.
"Great game. You're goal puck McDavid." He said tossing me the puck. It had white hockey tape around it and it read; Juliet McDavid's first NHL goal. Vs. Chicago Blackhawks, September, twentieth twenty twenty-five. I smiled happily and placed it beside me. My phone buzzed as I did it and I grabbed it.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Hi honey! We saw your goal!" My mom screeched.
"You did!? Did you see my backhand!?" I said standing up.
Caleb's POV:
I undid my pads as Jules answered her phone.
"You did!? Did you see my backhand!?" She said enthusiastically we all laughed as she turned away.
"You have a keeper." Bernier smirked. I nodded and finished getting ready. I showered and shoved my suit back on and waited for Juliet outside. I was meeting Crawford, Toews and Kane at the restaurant with Juliet and Rielly.
Juliet wore the black dress I told her to get. It complimented her curves amazingly.
"Sorry I took so long." She said her hair still wet and curly.
"Don't worry. Let's go." I said. We went to a fancy restaurant downtown and everyone was waiting for us.
"Did you guys order yet?" I asked.
"No. We just got in. A waitress hasn't even walked by." Patrick said.
"That was a beauty goal there, kid." Corey said to Juliet.
"Really?" She asked surprised.
"Of course. You deked Keith and me clean." He smiled.
"Yea but she still can't beat me on the faceoff."Toews smirked. Juliet scoffed and smiled. I frowned.
