Chapter 30:
Caleb's POV:
I waited outside the changeroom for our 'okay' to go on the ice. Both Juliet and I's families were here. Well except her real dad. When we went to Phoenix we couldn't find him. He had moved. She was devastated but she pushed it in her past. I was playing tonight and we were watching the megatron and it was the kiss cam thing going on.
We finally got the okay to go onto the ice and Juliet and I waited by the bench as we did a little warm up skate. She had her helmet off and was watching when she began blushing.
"Oh my God...Look." She said putting her head down. I looked up and the kiss cam thing was on us. I laughed as she looked up and I kissed her lips lightly and the stadium erupted in cheer. We laughed and she quickly slid on her helmet. We continued watching when the kiss cam went on two people in Maple Leaf jersey's.
"Oh my God..."She said again. The guy was wearing a hat backwards. He was really young and he had her hazel eyes and in the off shade his hair looked auburn.
"Holy shit he looks exactly like you." I said as he kissed the blonde next to him.
"That's him...That's my father." She said.
"How do you know?" I asked.
"Austin McDavid. I kept his last name. My mom always showed me pictures of him...He is very successful. I had no idea he was in Toronto." She said astounded.
"Are you going to score for him?" I asked.
"Hell yea. I'm going to play as hard as I ever had. Until my lungs are bleeding." She said buckling up her helmet as the whistle went. I went over to my net as Juliet sat on the bench.
Juliet's POV:
I knew it was him. He was infront of the glass, the blonde next to him must have been his wife. A boy around the age of sixteen that looked like him sat next to him with a younger boy at about twelve and a little girl that had to have been Beverly's age.
I stayed eyes locked when finally someone patted my shoulder. I immediately went on the rush into the zone going into the high slot. The puck was slid back to me and I did a quick toe drag around the defence men and snapped it bottom corner. As the horn went all the guys skated over to me and we had a little circle celebration together.
----
Surprisingly I got a hat trick that night and I ended up getting the first star. As they said my name I skated onto the ice with a hockey stick and I quickly signed it. I skated directly to the glass and pointed at my father's daughter and her face lit up. I placed it over and his wife grabbed it from me and handed it to her as my dad stared at me. I stared at him hard and skated away.
I got undressed and Beverly met Jonathan Toews. Once I was finished I braided my hair and slid on my hockey hat and shoved on my hoodie and shorts. I stood outside and stared at the ground.
"You stare at it any longer babe and you are going to burn a hole in the ground." Caleb said as he grabbed a slice of pizza from the concession stand.
"Excuse me, sir you can't go there." Security said. I turned and my father stared at me with his family behind him.
"It's fine, Adam." I said and he let them through.
"Juliet." My father said.
"Mr. McDavid. What do you want? Autograph?" I asked.
"Juliet...I am sorry." He said. His wife stared astounded.
"Austin? Is there something you need to share?" She asked.
"Yes. Tara this is my daughter, Juliet. Juliet this is my wife, Tara, my son, Joey my son, Mitchel and my daughter Elizabeth." He said.
"You're daughter!? How come this was not shared before." She asked as my dad and I stared at each other.
"He is obviously embarrassed by me. No phone calls, emails...nothing." I said.
"Juliet your mother would not let me have any contact with you. We were not married so it was her choice." He explained.
"Funny. I have been at academy schools, playing in the OHL...for the past fifth-teen years, you could have done something."
"Juliet I have been watching your progress all the time. Once you were signed into the OHL I have watched every game. I went to one too."
"That's why you watched those games." Tara said.
"You should have called me! I searched Phoenix for you. My step father does not approve of me playing hockey. He says I am playing a boys sport. Mom is upset because I'm not a model or anything. I needed someone to support me." I said.
"I know. Your mother would send me pictures of you. I was always proud of you. The reason why your mother and I broke up was because I was leaving to University in Phoenix and my family wanted to look after you out there. She would not let me and told me to leave and never come back." He explained.
My stance softened and I smiled.
I reached into my pocket and pulled out my hat trick puck."Mom has my first goal puck. I said to Caleb that I would score for you tonight. Here." I said handing it to him. He smiled.
"I am so proud of you Juliet. I want to be in your life now. I am staying in Toronto. I am working at a law firm here and Joey was signed to the London Knights as well." I smiled.
"It's a great organization kid." I smiled.
"I know, also my own sister played for them, I never knew we were related but now I can see it." He said happily. I smiled again.
"Here is my number Jules. We have season tickets." He said.
"That's awesome. Maybe we could go to dinner tomorrow?" I suggested.
"We would love that." He smiled.
"Oh but before you leave, this is my boyfriend Caleb Andrews." I smiled as Caleb came over.
"Nice to meet you sir." He said shaking my dads hand.
"Hell of a game son. I'm glad you are watching over Jules."
"Thank you." Caleb smiled.
"Well Jules. We should go. I will text you tomorrow" My dad smiled. I hugged him tightly and he returned it.
"Bye dad." I said.
"See you later Jules." He left and I turned back happily to see a stunned Beverly in Jonathan Toews' arms smiling and grinning and giggling.
"Juliet! Toews!" She said happily.
"I know! He tried to stop auntie Julie but he couldn't." I teased and we laughed.
"Hey, I don't want to hit a girl." He said politely.
