Chapter 3:

Caleb's POV:

We touched down in Toronto at the Pearson airport. I had one of my close friends on the team come pick me up. Most of the guys had already left for vacation but a couple guys stayed behind to practice.

"Hey Rielly." I greeted. Morgan Rielly was a defence on the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was the same age as Juliet, he was a good kid.

"Hey Cale." He smiled. We placed our bags in his Range Rover and he assisted us.

"This must be Juliet." He stated smiling. He shook her hand and she smiled.

"Yes. It's truly amazing to meet you. I have watched the Leaf games all the time." She laughed embarrassed.

"Well thank you." He laughed, we got into his vehicle, I was in the front and Juliet was in the back.

"Who stayed behind?" I asked as we began to drive to my building. All the single guys generally lived in the same complex whereas the married men lived in houses further away.

"Only a couple of us. Bozak stayed, Ranger stayed, Bolland stayed, Bernier stayed and Lupul stayed."

"Wow...Kadri left?" I asked surprised. The kid was young well I was young too but he was receiving a lot of hate lately.

"Yep. He wanted a break. He went to the Bahamas with a couple of other guys. They will all be back before training camp."

"Well, Demon. We can still get you back on the ice." I said looking at Juliet through the rear view mirror.

"Demon? What's up with that nickname?" Rielly asked. Rielly is his last name but we are hockey players we go by our last names. No one ever called Rielly by his first name.

"Oh...well I am fast." She said non chalantly.

"Ah I see. I have seen some of your games on tv you are fast." He pointed out.

"Thanks." She smiled. We finally pulled into my condo building and I got out and opened the trunk.

"Hey we may do some charity work over the break. Go to some local towns. Are you in?" He asked.

"Yea we both are." I said.

"Alright. Go get some rest. It's late." He said. He was right. It is late.

I brought up our bags to the top floor.

"I had to make room in the office for you." I said dropping down our bags. She did the same and followed me. I moved out some of my stuff in my office.

"Aww, Cale you didn't have to do that." She said when I showed her, her room. I bought a new king size bed with Lilac bedding and a new tv. I grabbed a dresser for her and a night table.

"I know it's not much. But I had to do it on short notice. I'm getting an extra room added."

"Cale seriously. This is more than enough. Thank you though." She said sincerely.

"No problem. Sleep tight Jules. I will see you in the morning." I said. I closed her door and went down to my room.

-------------

The next morning I woke up and made some coffee as I watched sports centre talking about the NHL draft.

"Top story today, the first woman in the NHL is drafted to the Toronto Maple Leafs." The broadcaster began.

"Hey demon! You're on tv!" I yelled down the hallway.

"Seriously?" She called back.

"Get your ass out here and find out." I said. She came down the hallway in a tank top and short shorts with her brown hair damp. She went to the tv and stood in front of it.

"What do you think about her playing in the NHL?" The broadcaster asked his partner.

"See the thing is. This is men's hockey. They are fast and they hit hard. I'm just saying it is not a place for a woman to be no matter the talent."

"That's sexist!" She yelled. I chuckled as I sipped my coffee.

"Come on she was drafted eighth  overall that's amazing." One guy said back.

"Exactly. It is amazing. I could beat anyone's ass." Juliet said making me laugh.

"So what? I'm just saying that this is not the right league for her. She is going to get hurt and the guys are going to play her hard and not let her get by with much. It's simple. She should not be here." Juliet clicked off the tv and threw the remote down.

"He doesn't know anything!" She yelled looking at me.

"Jules. It's a show. They don't know anything." I laughed.

"It's so annoying." She grumbled.

"They bash talk everyone. You learn how to block it out as time goes on." I explained putting my mug in the washer. Clarabelle and Tidus came in to see all the commotion.

"You want to go for a walk with me?" I asked Juliet.

"Yea. Let me change." She said walking back down the hallway.

-----

We walked along the boardwalk of lake Ontario. It was windy so we wore some light sweaters. Clarabelle and Tidus walked along side us. Tidus walked in between us and Clarabelle stayed on my side. I was Clarabelle's she loved me to death and was very possessive. They didn't need leashes because I sent them to the top boarding schools but we still had them on.

"So, how has it been on your own the past year? I feel like it's been an eternity since we talked." She said.

"I know last year was hectic. You had hockey and schooling and I was training every minute of my life."

"Yea. It was crazy without you though."

"How come?" I asked surprised. I never knew she missed me much.

"Well look back. Yea we didn't have the same classes but we always made time for each other. Before games we napped side by side." She laughed hitting me with her elbow.

"That is true. Surprisingly I missed those naps."

"Aww was I comfortable to sleep by?" She cooed wrapping her arms around me. I smiled and rolled my eyes as we continued walking.
