Hey guys, I'm back! Thank you for all you wonderful readers for reading. It means a lot to me. So yeah. As of chapter 4, Arthur is a little heartbreaker. And I think that now Imma continue and probably fast forward to fourth year, soon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Last game of the year, boys." called out the coach to all the students in the Quidditch gear. Alfred was a Chaser and this game was going to be against Slytherin, meaning that he'd be going against Arthur.
The coach continued on with his speech, but the only thing Alfred heard at the end was, "SO LET'S GO KICK SOME SLYTHERIN ASS!" which the whole team cheered to.
They stepped out onto the Quidditch team to find the Slytherin's Quidditch team already out there, grinning madly. This was the game everyone had been waiting for all year. The biggest rivalry in all of Hogwarts history, it always has been. Alfred spotted Arthur amongst the green and waved, smiling.
Arthur just raised his bushy eyebrows, looking like he was ready to kill us. He'd never seen this side of his best friend, and was excited to see how he'd play. He had watched him play other teams, but never has he caught the snitch. Of course he wanted to see his team win, but Alfred also wanted to see his best friend do well.
(Alfred's POV)
But before I could decide whether I would go easy on him or do my best, the quaffle was thrown up into the air, and I instinctively caught it and passed it to another Chaser on my team. She dribbled it between her and another boy for a few seconds before passing it to me, where I'd throw it into the goal for a point. The whole right side of the stadium (where everyone was dressed in red and gold) cheered and did the wave. I smiled like a dork and waved to everyone proudly, before getting back to the game.
I spotted Arthur looking around desperately for the snitch, but to no avail. At first I felt sorry for him, but then remembered that he was on a different team, and that it was a good thing. Slytherin made a goal, followed by us, and it just went back and forth. After an hour, we were still tied, thirty to thirty. I was panting at this point and almost completely out of energy.
I look down and see our Seeker darting upwards, fast, following a golden blur. I smiled, seen as this might be our ticket to win. I let her pass me, followed by a worried looking Arthur. Not knowing what to do, the quaffle is passed to me, just soon enough to be hit by the opposing team's bludger. The quaffle slips out of my hands and though it hurt, I quickly regain my strength and dart down for the quickly falling ball.
Just as I catch it, there is a whistle, and everyone stops cheering. Everything is quiet. I look around for the reason to see Arthur staring straight at me, fists clenched. He stays like that for a few moments, and so does the world. The suspense starts to kill me when he grins and holds up the golden snitch, followed by thousands of cheers from the Slytherin supporters.
At first I'm insanely happy for my friend, but then realized that my team lost. Gryffindor had been on a winning streak and we lost. My smile quickly faded into a disappointed look, until Arthur flew over to me on his broom and gave me a big hug.
"You did okay, twit," he said and I laughed.
"I did better than you," I shot back.
"You're not the one who caught the snitch,"
"Yeah, but I worked harder than you. Did you see all those goals I shot,"
"No. I was too busy doing my job," we were back on the ground now. And I walked back to the Gryffindor locker room to get dressed, and Arthur went to his.
We walked back together, chatting away about anything and everything, like always. They'd be going home in a week. They wished that the school years lasted forever, but nevertheless, they missed their families and the air was much warmer. Warm enough for swim team, in my opinion.
"See ya next year!" I yelled across to my best friend as I rode off in my car, on my way to the airport. On my way back to America. Next year, Artie. I'll see you next year.
Omg I'm SOOOOOO sorry for this super short chapter, I just thought it would go better if I skipped to fourth year next chapter. It would've been weird not to get very far in this.
Anyway, you got to read about them playing Quidditch finally. Don't yell at me for "forgetting about 3rd year" please. I just don't have any inspiration for that.
I hope you guys are enjoying this fanfiction, because I know I am. And yes, I know that I said I'd be updating on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, but I decided to today, too because I have a day off from school (whoop whoop!) so yeah. Whelp so long, farewell, avitase goodbye! - Austria lover (Leah)
