Badger awoke in his small bed.
"Badger, If u don't wake up we will be late!" His mother shouted.
"Coming Jane!" Badger yelled, slipping out of bed and putting on a long sleaved white shirt with a black jumper and grey jeans, running into the kitchen."Hurry, eat some food and get going" Jane ordered. Badger grabbed the bread out of the cupboard and got the butter out fridge. He made himself some toast and bit into it.
"Raina is waiting" Jane shouted from the bathroom.
"Alright" Badger mumbled though a mouthful of toast. Once he was finished, he jumped up and walked outside. The streets were full of people going to the ceremony. He trudged through the snow to get to the square.
Badger pushed through the crowd to the stage, the amulet laid in the commander's hand. He stepped up the dark oak steps to the side of the stage, where around four kids were standing, Raina being among them.
"Hey Raina" Badger whispered as he stood beside his friend.
"Hey" Raina whispered, not taking her eyes off the commander.
"These five children have come of age to be able to do the ceremony" The commander shouted, "I will place this amulet around all of the children's necks to see if they will become new members of the guard."
Commander Zane walked up to the first child, who Badger knew was the bully of the school, Moray. As he put amulet around Moray's neck, Moray closed his eyes but nothing happened.
"Sorry Moray" Zane apologized, taking off the amulet and walking over to the other two. Badger zoned out for a while, wondering what will happen to him and Raina if they transform, will they still be friends?
"Now Badger" Zane announced. Badger felt the cold amulet get placed around his neck and he began to feel his skin become cold. He let out a scream of agony as his skin ripped, releasing bits of fur, his mouth grew into a muzzle. He fell down onto four legs, his scream turning into a howl of agony.
"Congratulations!" He heard the commander yell and there was cheers from the crowd. Raina walked up to him and put her hand on his head.
"Well done Badger" She whispered. Badger stayed in wolf form and sat over with the guard."Now Raina" Zane smiled, placing the amulet around her neck. Raina closed her eyes, feeling a hot sensation on her spine. She let out a scream of agony as her skin ripped to reveal pearl coloured scales. Horns grew out of her skull and wings out of her torso. Her mouth growing into a muzzle and she let out a loud roar.
Badgers instincts kicked in to kill the creature.
No, we can't do that, she is our friend!
Must kill
Badger snarled, running forward. There was screams from the towns folk as Raina spun around, whacking Badger over with her long tail. Commander Zane ran over, shifting into his dark brown wolf. He let out a howl.
Kill the creature! He ordered.
Badger ran forward, his muzzle stretched open, ready to bite.
Raina's light blue eyes scanned to him, her wings stretching back making a huge gust of wind knock him over.
Badger's black and white form hit the hard oak stage. He shot up, snarling.
There was the sound of bones breaking and Badger turned to see a fire red dragon flying towards them, his muzzled opened, breathing sizzling, red fire around them.
Raina looked up at the dragon, smirking.
The dragon winked before gesturing her to follow.
Raina took off into the sky, flying up into the clouds, never to be seen again.
