**Tyler POV**
The tick-tock of the clock was the only thing to be heard over the blaring silence. Situated in a claustrophobic concrete box, I'd had time to take in my limited surroundings. A fluctuating bronze lamp dipped dangerously low from the ceiling from a thin copper wire. Whilst I was sitting on a steel chair facing a rusty steel table and another steel chair opposite my own. The seat was painfully stiff and my hands were bound by iron manacles chained tightly to the table. These past few hours have been a blur. They knew. They knew my secret...
**Cassie POV**
They took Tyler. They took our Tyler. The police burst in the dinner and cuffed him. Maia had to hold me back from lunging at them and getting arrested for blocking the course of justice. So instead I pleaded with and shouted at the police that they were making a mistake. Screw making a scene or fool out of myself. The police didn't know the full story. How could they? We couldn't tell the truth. No one would believe us. I mean we all were coming to terms with our new reality. The public wouldn't understand. We all were too shocked too move or speak. This wasn't supposed to happen. People in the diner kept whispering in hushed tones '...murderer...', '...terrorist', '...strange boy', 'crazy girl...', '...stupid teenagers...' I clamped down on my tongue. Defending Ty wouldn't change anything. I don't care what they said about me, but Ty was innocent. He didn't deserve this. Cory pulled my arm and put his hand at the small of Maia's back. A faint dusting of pink swept across her cheeks almost too quick to notice.

"Hold on...what about the keys? Ty has them with him, doesn't he?" I queried.
"Tyler shoved them in my pocket when the officers walked through the door. We need to get out of here, before the press do." Cory replied ushering me in the back and Maia in the front. Cory slammed the accelerator and we screeched out the car park at break neck speed.
"Slow the hell down Adams. I would like to make it to 20!" I shouted whilst holding onto the back of Maia's chair for dear life. He wasn't listening just staring blankly. His breathing was hitched and beads of sweat gathered on his forehead. His fingers were twitching on the steering wheel.
"He's having a panic attack!" Maia said concern evident in her tone.
"I-er-I-feel-like-I'm dying. I-I-I-can't breathe Maia, I can't-I "Cory replied panting. I felt a sharp pang of guilt for yelling at my best friend in this state.
"Cory just trust me-ok?" Maia replied. Maia reached her hands out on the steering wheel linking them over Cory's. In a quick flash of motion she swerved the car into the nearest layby. Before swinging her leg over the gearstick, nudging Cory's foot out of the way and slamming on the breaks. By the time the car came skidding to a halt Maia was practically sat on Cory's lap. She flushed a dark shade of crimson and Cory was no better.
"Are you both okay?" I inquired. They both murmured something inaudible.
"Would you mind...er...I need to calm down...erm...?" Cory directed his words to Maia. Blushing even further.
"Er-yeah. Of course." Maia turned as red as a tomato untangling herself from Cory.
"What happened back there Cory? You were fine one minute and out of it the next?" I asked. Cory's expression darkened.
"Nothing Cas just leave it." He said.
"I'm not gonna leave it cos you're not okay." I snapped.
"I said drop it Cassie!" Cory shouted angrily.
"Not until you tell me what's the matter." I shouted back.
"Well maybe if you stopped moping over Tyler you'd know." Cory yelled.
"Piss off Cory. Sorry for being concerned." I slammed the car door behind me. Tears dripping down my face.
**Cory's POV**
I rested my head on the steering wheel. I'd really gone and done it this time.
"I screwed up." I blatantly said.
"Screwed being the understatement of the century." Maia replied.
"What you said was harsh and unnecessary." She continued.
"Thanks for the pep-talk." I sarcastically retort. Maia playfully slapped my arm.
"I'm being serious. She was only worried about you and you blew up in her face. Want to tell me what that was really about."
"Are you going to let me off the hook?" I smirked at her.
"Never. You're going to talk to me about whatever the hell went up your arse today, let Cassie blow off some steam and then you're going to apologise to her." Maia said.
"Yes Ma'am" I said.
"I prefer Madam Maia if you please kind sir." Maia replied jokingly. I let out a soft laugh.
"You really are a pierce of work Maia Rivers."
