#I know, I know. It's been a gazillion years since I updated and I'm so so sorry for frustrating you guys. Believe me I've felt the same! I've wrote so many drafts for this chapter, but they've never felt good enough to post. I have so many plans for this story, it's just connecting them. I'm proud of myself for persevering and I really hope you enjoy this 2 part chapter. I'll be uploading the second part relatively soon, since my ipad with the chapter plan on it, died. So once I've charged it, I'll upload it soon after that.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and Hanukkah (if you celebrate them). Don't forget to have a great new years day. I have no idea what my new years resolution will be. Hopefully something I will stick to for once lol xp#
Maia POV
I felt like a bomb had just exploded on me and I was left to pick up the pieces of my sanity. Coffee dripped all over the counter, as the blue porcelain mug shattered onto the floor.
"You what?" I practically yell at Nathaniel. He doesn't look shocked by my confused outburst, he just stands there, like he expects it. He looks at me softly,
"You died Mai, if you die in a vision, you die in real life." A lump forms in my throat as I nod for him to continue.
"When you held me, I really thought I died, but he saved me. He gave me his blood, turned me into a heretic. When I woke up and completed my transition. He told me one day soon you'd need my help, he gave me the spell that brought you back to life. All he asked for in return was my eternal loyalty to him with a blood oath. That I'd do whatever he asked. It's a fair deal considering he saved your life." I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
"You can't be serious." I said eyes wide with shock.
"Oh I'm deadly serious Mai." He replied, his eyes blazing into mine. Daring me to disagree.
"Who is this great man you speak so highly of then?" I fired back.
"I don't know." He grumbled. My eyes went wide.
"You signed your life away to a man you didn't know, not only that, but you broke coven law. You used black magic (cue little mix song lmao) and the commitee will have your head. I appreciate what you did for me, but you shouldn't have done it." I said my voice calmer than the storm building inside of me.
"He saved my life Mai, tried a lot harder than you did." He spat. I slapped him. Hard.
"Don't you dare say that to me! I thought you were dead Nathaniel. Do you have any idea how hard these past few weeks have been for me? Every day I cried over you. You're my twin, I thought I'd lost my second half. Don't you think I would've done something if I could've? You never should've played double agent with Rachel, you should've just come clean. We could've figured something out together. Instead you lied and played with fire and in the end you got burned." I shouted out at the top of my lungs, letting out weeks of pent up grief and frustration.
"I'm sorry." He whispered quietly. We never used to fight, so the both of us arguing almost seems foreign.
"For what?" I accidently blurt out, even if I know what for, a part of me wants him to say it.
"For snapping at you, for saying things I shouldn't have. I was just mad. You're always the impulsive one, I know I could be too, but you always knew how to let go; have fun and I was just sick of being responsible, I know it's a shitty thing to say, but I just wanted to be free. And he said he would help me and you and he already has." He says timidly, but blatantly honest.
When our parents died in a car crash, me and Nathaniel took it in very different ways. Nathaniel became the parent figure out of the two of, whilst only being my 2 seconds older twin, was always the more mature. He had the family wild streak, but after our parents deaths he reined it in. As he grew up, I was determined to stay young. Out partying with my friends, never wasted, just hazy enough to forget the pain for a second. Nathaniel was the one who saved from drowning in my own grief. He always saved me.
"I didn't know you felt that way. You could've told me. You were always so good and rule abiding. You're my big brother, only by 13 minutes, but you always knew what to do. You always gave me the best advice and that's why I looked up to you and I still do." I replied, eyes softening.
"How did he even get a hold of a spell from the dark book, I thought the coven burnt them all." I asked, a frown occupying my face.
"I have no idea, but he's so powerful. Knows his way round the supernatural world. I overheard some of his men talking about a prisoner." He said shrugging.
"Men as in a clan?" I ask curious.
"Yeah, a whole load of vampires. Quite a lot freshly turned." He answered, looking at me like a kid with candy.
"The prisoner, did you hear the name?"
"No." He muttered a little sourly. I don't know why I kept pushing Nathaniel for answers, but I felt like it was important. Something didn't quite add up how a powerful, mysterious vampire, decided to save my brother, whom he hadn't ever heard of. But I decided to leave the conversation there. It was going nowhere. The questions burning a hole in my blue denim jeans pocket could wait till tomorrow. After all, coming back to life made me more tired than ever...
