Chapter 20—Abducted By Aliens
It has been a month since Andrew and I got married. He got a job at a local publishing company. He is now a marketing assistant there. I also got a job now. I’m a writer at a teen magazine based here in our area.
Courtney wanted to establish a magazine under our names. She had a financial support from her parents but sadly, I really need a job so I told them I would join them as soon as Andrew has a stable income. He isn’t a regular yet because he just got hired a month ago, remember?
Plus, my experience in the company I’m currently working at would be of a great help. Since they are planning to establish a magazine, my experience would be a big plus. Right now, they just told me about their plans. It was part of our plans back in college but I never thought they were actually being serious with it.
“It’s alright, Chris.” Courtney told me as she smiled at me reassuringly. “I totally understand.”
“We totally understand.” Zoey corrected. “You don’t have to apologize, okay?”
“Zoey’s right. Why do you have to apologize? You already have a job and if you’re going to quit it now while we’re still trying to start this business, it’ll be hard for you.” Courtney said. “You’d have to cut down your budget because you won’t be receiving an income from our business because we haven’t published it yet.”
“Plus, we still have to develop our connections to have a better company. We’ll have to look for a printing company, a few more writers and a lot more staffs!” Zoey added. “We know you have a different situation now, okay? Stop apologizing. Don’t feel bad you’re not doing anything bad, okay?”
“I really want to go and help you start it from scratch. I feel like I’ve left you guys.” I said looking down on my feet. I really felt ashamed. I just feel ashamed.
“Shut up! We’re not from high school anymore who would not understand you, alright?” Zoey assured me. “You could still help us by just working. Chillax, please.”
“Zoey is right. If you want to help us then just continue your work. Learn there and when we’re finally ready to operate, you can join us.” Courtney smiled at me as she placed her hand on the tap of my entwined hands. “We’re best friends and we really understand you.”
“Thanks girls.” I smiled at them. A doorbell then interrupted us. Zoey immediately gave us the look and walked to open the door of her apartment. Yes, Zoey and Jay decided to move in together two weeks ago.
“Come in.” Zoey said as she gestured for the person outside to come in. “Someone’s husband is here.”
“I’m not married yet.” Courtney chuckled as she showed her hands without any ring on it. “Hi Drew!”
“Hi Courtney.” He greeted her as he continued to walk towards my direction. “I’m here to pick up my wife.”
“I wonder what time would Drake be here to pick me up.” Courtney pouted making us chuckle. “You two look really good together.”
“Shut up, Court.” I rolled my eyes as I stood up. I then looked at Andrew. “So, let’s go?”
“If you’re ready then we can go. Are you girls done discussing?” He asked as he looked at me. I nodded in response as I stood up.
