A sunflower in a field of daisies
You stuck out so clearly in the rows of repeated
children stuck in relentless pain
In and out of relationships I never noticed
You were so much more than a star
Shooting higher than every 1, 2, or 3 student
You aimed for 4s
Accomplishing the basic amount of love
Acquiring the skill of archery
You stood back and let go
Catching the arrow with my bare hands, I broke it to pieces
For I wanted see the contents inside
Just to play a game with you
I lost control
Not knowing what I wanted
Not caring who i'd hurt
For pain thrived me
I liked the idea of someone wanting me
Even after I knocked every building block they placed down
Cracking my knuckles and opening my eyes
I realized I wasn't wanted anymore
And that is when it changed
The girl with soft eyes and the nicest smiled
Had left
Being struck with defeat was a point for the books
Letting my mind create lists of brokenness
Just to be torn apart
I missed your kisses
Your hugs
Your presence
And everything about you
I though about every detail from your hair strands
To the visible veins on your arm
I no longer wanted you
I needed you
The girl I craved more of has been gone
So to my sunflower who I long to grow so tall
