chapter 2: The rotting body on Oak river - Part 2

Kaelie's POV
I have to be honest, the body looks gross but I'm used to it by now. Murdering and hunting down people was fun, but it didn't pay much, but when Leo came asking for help, I got intrigued. I don't do anything without a price, but as soon as his hot partner Matt told me about the government paying us top dollar I wanted in.

But all my excitement wavered when I found out Julius is also part of this, I kinda lost some motivation to join. But money talks.

But I didn't sign up for this: to look at rotting bodies for evidences. I guess I got used to just killing them and have the police find the bodies.

"Kaelie, what can you say about the body?" Matt asked, looking on the clipboard he was holding.

"Honestly, it's a sloppy murder. The stab wounds didn't kill the victim, but it was deep enough for him to bleed to death. Plus he got infected." I stated, but it didn't take a genius to know these things.

"Kaelie's right, by the looks of it this was his first kill. Now don't look too happy Kaelie, this will be the only time I'll agree with you." I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest.

The Chief went in with Leo and Diane talking about the suspects.  I sometimes envy Diane because of her red hair and green eyes, while I have Blue eyes and Brown hair. But at least I'm tall, that's where I get my advantage if you compare me to her. Plus she has Leo, Blonde but extremely smart.

"What are these two doing here?" Oh yeah I forgot that the Chief is in here.

Leo's POV:
I saw Kaelie and Julius visibly cringe, they really hated this guy,  I mean I hate him too.

"Well well well I guess you two got tired of hiding."

Kaelie smirked and stood in front of Chief Dayes. "I guess I kind of got tired playing cat and mouse game."

"At least you admit that you're a coward when it comes to law enforcement."

"Not exactly, It's just so boring how you lot go in circles and I just watch how you confuse yourselves. Kind of like a mouse going round and round and round until BAM! The cat catches it and eats it alive."

The chief huffed looking as red as a tomato. It's entertaining when Kaelie and Julius do these stunts, keeps the officers in line, and I believe Matt agrees because he's leaning against the wall, arms crossed trying hard not to laugh.

"I'm not here to banter with low lives such as these." The chief spat with disgust.

"Gross! I didn't think you would sprinkle your saliva on me!" She said feigning disgust.

"THAT'S IT! I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THE TWO OF YOU!" He pulled out a gun and pointed it at Kaelie's face. Kaelie barely reacted but All of us did.
Julius went in between Kaelie and  masked a look that could probably make a grown man wet his pants. This was what I was worried about.
"Don't you dare touch her, if you want to keep your life."Julius spoke in a low and menacing tone.
"Chief, let's be professional here and focus on the crime at hand." Diane said, giving him a stern look. The chief sighed and put down his gun. 
Other officers and forensic scientists filed into the room.
I asked Julius and Kaelie to leave because we wouldn't want the chief to pull that stunt again, and they left willingly.

We talked about the suspects and the possible motive. After that we all left. Diane and Matt didn't talk the whole time especially because of what the Chief did to our friend. The only time they did talk was when they were asked about their opinions, which was rare.

When we got home we we heard Julius and Kaelie arguing in Kaelie's room. It would have been normal and we would have just shrugged it off if it didn't sound so serious.

Matt, Leo and I didn't mean to eavesdrop but we were all just concerned.

"No! You can't just try and Protect me as if we're friends because We. Are. Not."

"Oh really what was I suppose to do? Watch him threaten you? Huh is that what you expect of me to do?! Because I know what he did to you! I JUST CARE ABOUT YOU KAELIE WHY CAN'T YOU JUST LET THAT OFF?!"

"NO BECAUSE I AM FINE BY MY OWN! I DON'T NEED A-A GUY TO PROTECT ME! AND DON'T YOU DARE BRING MY PAST INTO THIS!"

I understand where Julius is coming from though, he cares for Kaelie because she's the only person in this whole world who understands him truly. Even in our team they are the only ones who could truly
understand each other.

Leo shook his head and sighed. Matt's expression was blank, I guess at times like this even my brother is affected.

half an hour later...
The two boys left and I was the only one to listen to them. It was uneventful until I heard the doorknob jerk. I panicked and ran to the living room where Leo And Matt distracted themselves by solving the murder.

"How are they-"
Matt was cut off when Kaelie and Julius got in the room.

"We might know who the murderer is."
