chapter 3: Strange phone call

Julius' POV
I stood there awkwardly after everyone went silent. Even Leo stopped chewing his food, and the dude truly loves food, but he stopped mid-chew just to listen to me explain why I said that.

"Julius is right. The killer is an amateur, the body and crime scene practically screams "he is the killer" for us." Dang, Kaelie never support my opinions before why the change of heart now?

"This is the only time I will agree with you bigfoot." I rolled my eyes and sat on the couch because standing awkwardly, it tires you. "How can you be sure that it was a him?" Kaelie sat down on an empty stool beside Matt and ate his cereal.

"Well the body-"
"Wait...did you mess with the body Last night ?" Diane put her head on her hands and Leo pinches the bridge of his nose.

"Unbelievable I-" Then the phone suddenly rings, saving me from days worth of talking and arguing. Matt picks up the phone and kept on nodding his head. He called Kaelie after a few moments into the phone call because the caller apparently wanted something from her.

Her face was blank and she just nodded, not even making the effort to say yes or no. (Which is kinda stupid because the point of phone calls is to talk.)
She slammed the phone and startled everyone. Is it code red now???

"What was that about, St. Martin. You can't just slam the phone, I saved for that."

"I'll just pay for it." She crossed her arms over her chest and lent back on the wall beside her.

Matt stood up and tried to comfort her. Which is good but...you don't comfort this woman. She doesn't like comforting and all that. Plus she's got a thing about covering her ears, no one knows why she covers it all the TIME. But that's cool, I'm not one to judge. But yeah...she's one mysterious gal.

"Honestly, whatever that phone call had to say I think it's a must to share it with the rest of the group, isn't that right leo" I looked at Leo's direction and saw Diane giving him a warning look. Couples are weird. He whispered something in Diane' ear and she nodded probably in approval.

Kaelie stood up and removed Matt's hand from her shoulder, "I know who the next target is...And she was very close to me." Oh...I did not expect that.

We talked about how to stop the killer from getting his second victim tonight, especially if I am involved. I have to be honest, It's stressful job especially if you don't know who you are trying to protect.

We went out and drove to the venue my Jeep because they were all out of gas -Typical- and it makes a good cover.

The place was crowded... The killer wanted to kill someone where there are a lot of witnesses which is a big no no in the criminal world. A few people even bumped me and didn't apologise (one of the reasons I do my job).

We all went undercover and tried to keep tabs on everyone as much as we all could. Kaelie wanted to meet her friend alone, Leo and Diane pretended to on a date in a restaurant where the killer is more likely to strike and Matt is on walk duty. I am on guarding duty though, I am to keep a close eye on Kaelie without her knowing. I mean, I didn't want to do it willingly, Leo had to bribe me with money just for me to do it which is good for me, but probably not good for her.

"You know I see you there."

I quickly duck behind the trash can and tried to level my breathing .

"Seriously J, can't you be more obvious?"

"What are you talking about? Uh, um...My name is Julio." I said with an accent. Sadly, my accent was way off, Kaelie just stared at me with a blank face.
"Fine, yeah I was spying on you so what? Who are you meeting in this sketchy alley anyways."

She looked away from me and started mumbling profanities under her breath. "I'm meeting Luane Owens..." I nodded my head at first but then I put two and two together, "Wait. Isn't that Seige Owens' sister...the guy that broke your heart?" She looked at me again with glassy eyes and trembling lips.

This would be the hardest mission ever.

Lol ok...um it isn't my best and I'm two weeks late but hey, I tried.
