Elise's POV
I stepped out of my car, feet landing on the school parking lot. I entered through the two side doors on the school and walked with confidence.
Today there's going to be another player added to this game that Luke started. I had to find a player four. Luke had Hannah to try and hurt me while I had no one as of right now. I had to find somone. Someone attractive, funny, and nice. Someone who would make Luke really jealous.
I walked to the corner where my locker was and found Demetrius leaning back on his locker reading a book. I noticed that he was wearing glasses. Yet he didn't look geeky. If anything, he looked hot. He looked comfortable, reading his small book, his sweater looking snug. He actually looked really attractive right now. Hey, maybe I could use him to make Luke jealous. But I don't think he'd do it. And I also don't want anyone to know about Luke. So, I'll just pretend that I like him. I mean it won't be that hard. He is really hot anyway.
"Hey," I decide to say while opening my locker and getting my things for the first couple periods.
"Hi," he replies back, putting his book down and turning to me.
"What book were you reading?" I ask, closing my locker and turning to him.
"Just a book about directing."
"Directing as in like directing movies?"
"Yeah. What else would it be?"
"I didn't think so much sass could belong to such a boy like you," I joked.
"A boy like me?" He started to ask while I started to walk away, going to class.
"Yeah."
"What's that supposed to mean?" He questions.
"I mean that you don't look like a boy who would have sass, or confidence. That's all," I explained, turning the corner so that I'm in the hallway that the math room is in.
"Well, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover then," he said, still following me.
"I'll keep that in mind. Now, what are you doing, following me?" I asked, stopping right at the door, waiting for him to reply.
"Well, if you weren't so caught up in your own little world, you'd realize that I have math class as you," he said.
Oh my gosh. This is better than I expected. Demetrius and I have the same class and that means that making Luke jealous is going to be so much easier.
There was one thing that was bothering me about Demetrius though. I can't help but think that he thinks of me as some selfish brat who gets whatever she wants. And that's definitley not true. If it was true than I would have had a bigger house, a better car, and a personal hair stylist so I would't have to rely on my little sister to braid my hair.
"Hello?" I heard Demetrius ask. I didn't realize that I haven't said anything back yet.
"Yeah, sorry. I guess I was just in my own little world. You know, you should take your own advice and not judge a book by its cover," I said while stepping into the classroom.
I saw Luke at his desk which was odd because he usually comes in when the bell rings.
I sat down at the back of the classroom like I always do and I saw Demetrius sit next to me. We don't really have assigned seats.
"What do you mean?" he asks.
"I know what you think about me. That I'm a snob and a stuck up little princess who always gets what she wants. But I'm not. So what! I wear nice clothes and have rich parents? That doesn't mean that they spoil me. You should really get to know me and then once you know me, you can judge."
He leaned over his desk, his lips next to my right ear and whispered, "Oh, I'd love to get to know you," He then leaned back into his desk and looked at my face that probably looked horrified.
"I'm kidding," he laughed while my body relaxed. "Well, sort of," he said and then my muscles went stiff again.
I turned my head to the right, facing Demetrius, giving him another horrified look.
"I mean I'd like to get to know you. As in be your friend," he laughed.
"Oh okay. Good. You had me worried there," I exclaimed, letting out a breath I didn't even know I was holding in.
"So is that a yes to being friends, Ms. Davis?"
"Why yes it is, Mr. Park," I answered laughing.
"Um, who's this?" I heard Sky ask, sitting down in the desk to my left. She had an amused look on her and I was wondering what that was about.
"Oh, this is Demetrius, my friend. Demetrius, this is one of my best friends, Skylar."
"Hi Skylar nice to meet you," Demetrius smiled.
"Yeah, it's nice to meet you too but your name is to long. Do you have a nickname?" Skylar asked, very rudley, if you ask me.
"Skylar! Stop being rude," I commanded and then turned my attention to Demetrius, "I'm sorry. She's not usually rude like that."
"It's okay and to answer your question Skylar, no I do not have a nickname. Would you like to come up with one for me?" Demetrius asked, amused.
"What about just Demetri or D?"
"Sounds good to me. Call me whatever you'd like," he smiled.
"I like D," I stated.
"Oh we all know that Elise," Sky stated.
Sky and Demetrius started laughing and I was confused until I realized what I said. Oh my. I don't want Demetrius to think that I'm some kind of slut. I need him to make Luke jealous and also to be a friend.
"Looks like Demetri it is," I said.
I blocked out their laughing and looked up at the board. Written in marker on the whiteboard was what we were going to do for the day. It said that we were working with partners for a packet.
My eyes then moved from the board to Luke, who was staring right at me. He looked away when we made eye contact but by his looks, he looked angry. Maybe he saw Demetri lean over his desk and whisper something in my ear. I really hope so.
The bell rang and then Luke stood up, standing at the front of the class.
"Ok class, well if any of you bothered to look at the board, you would know that you guys are getting in partners and working on packets for the rest of the week. Make sure to choose someone that you'll work with but also like. You won't be changing your partner. The partner you choose is your partner for the rest of the school year. There is 21 people in this class though so there will be an odd number so who wants to be in a group of three?"
"Oh! Me, Elise, and Demetrius will be in a group of three," Skylar exclaimed.
"Um, is that ok with Ms. Davis and Mr. Park?" He asked. There was a tone with his voice though. An emotion that showed disappointment? I hope so.
Demetri replied, "Yeah it's fine with me. You Elise?"
"Yeah," I smiled at Demetri.
"Okay. Now everyone else look for a partner please."
Luke passed out our packets once everyone had a partner and then went to sit back down at his desk.
I was looking at him with a blank face until he looked over at me and then I smirked. He probably thought that a girl like me wouldn't be able to compete against him in this little game of ours.
But never judge a book by its cover.
